Lamar Jackson

rapsheet said they're open to negotiating
they know what that means

that already tells me they've got a higher number to offer him - or a deal they think is worth his time (even if it's not quite high enough to make him sign) - if they already know they're tagging and trading him, they're not going back to the negotiating table
And that's reasonable, but I've seen Rapsheet go on Pat McCafee and say Lamar AND THE TEAM are optimistic for Lamar in the playoffs. Then follow it up with he's got extreme swelling and isn't close.

Rapsheet and Schefty are the best of the best but they still get things wrong. I know it's best to use data where you can, but I don't trust a single thing other than the singular tweet from Lamar. Because I don't think he's lying. Everyone else is playing some kind of game.

Yes but factually, what Harbs said about those injuries and what actually happened were totally orthogonal

i mean idk - they've also nailed a bunch of injury timetables

they havent misdiagnosed anyone

the derek wolfe situation was a weird one and ronnie's situation was unfortunate with needing the 2nd surgery

also worth noting we changed the trainer this offseason to someone who won NFL awards for recovery stuff

wolfe had a complaint specifically about the strength and conditioning and harbs's practices - nothing about misdiagnosis or the training staff

bc why wouldn't they be? Lamar wants to play. John wants Lamar to play. and the Ravens want Lamar to play.

However the injury was more complicated and put a hamper to those hopes.

I really don't see the issue

um... I'm not saying Rapsheet or Lamar are lying, but it sounds like something fishy is going on.

i dont get what you're trying to say about the rapsheet thing - he also didnt say the team was optimistic, he said lamar was optimistic but those who'd seen him werent

schefty said the team was hoping lamar would be back for christmas eve and clearly that didnt happen

I'm saying that these journalists report things as true and then they end up not being true. They don't know anything, even the good ones. That's why I only trust Lamar.

What if Lamar is lying? I don't think he would but we have no proof that he thinks anything

Yeah maybe I'm misremembering that. If that's what he said, then Rapsheet is the only one who has said the right things so far

He could be. I personally believe he isn't. I don't think he's ever done anything to make us believe he is.

As I mentioned earlier, if he really is, that's a terrible situation. But I don't think he is

I know ill get hate for this buttt

If Joe Burrow had this same injury as Lamar right now, you guys think hes playing or not.
Man, that's a tough one. I say he should which is how I feel - you don't let your team down. Altho I understand not playing to protect a payday too. But for me, that says volumes about a guy who takes self-preservation over 52 other guys. If I were a team mate of a guy like that, making less than 1/10 of what he is and I'm taping up every week as it is, I think I'd resent that. Plus, if that's the new normal, that anyone can choose just not to play because they aren't 100% (Sounds like what happened with AB in Tampa) that cripples team sport in my mind. It's a very slippery slope there.

Moreover, if this is actually what's happening and the Ravens legitimately feel he should be on the field and he disagrees and doesn't play, that's not a healthy team dynamic... regardless of who one might feel is right or wrong.

I refuse to believe he's lying because of his competitive nature. He is just not simply healthy enough to play. He hasn't even been medically cleared, has he?
So do you think he'll be back for the divisional round if we make it there? I don't think so, and I don't think the team thinks so. I think if we make it to the AFCCG, then he may be back in time for that, but I'm still not sure.

i mean i do believe that schefter was right in what he reported - that the ravens were hopeful he'd return by christmas eve

dont think that necessarily makes him wrong - just that the ravens hopeful timeline was clearly ultimately wrong

Good question Tank cuz it's a damn if he does or a damn if he doesn't. What Lamar can't support the team? Whats he doing walking around on a bum ass leg? Me personally I hope he is,.
He could always use crutches if he needs them. I think you gotta support your team, especially since it’s a tournament game, hopefully he does.

This is where I disagree. There's no way you can make that statement with any certainty despite how irreplaceable Lamar might appear to be. It's like you can't say we would have won this game or that with the FG they didn't go for because they tried a 4th and 1 or a missed pick six or something. We just don't know. I don't think anyone would have expected Joe Flacco to be able to manage the OFF his rookie year to the AFC Championship. You just don't know. After all, I look at both times we won the Super Bowl as catching lightening in a bottle. I feel like they caught lightening in a bottle last year in the draft with the assets they acquired from the Hollywood trade. You just never know. Lamar himself getting on the field is lightening in a bottle. He was being sold on draft day by everyone but us as a potential WR and we clearly knew different.
correct, there is no guarantee either way. However if you look at the % of qbs taken in the first round that are busts or even have a winning % as much as Lamar has had with us, well you won't find many. I'm only looking at history. Draft is a crap shoot and especially difficult finding a franchise QB. Just look at the franchises that haven't found one in decades. One is in Washington.

Seems like there are more Lamar Jackson fans than Ravens fans on this site?
This about the team, not one player. If you are able to play, you should get out there and play. That’s what you’re getting paid to do.
True that. But no one knows for sure the status of his rehab. Gotta believe what he is saying until it’s proven otherwise.

and of course those practices have been changed. Obviously Wolfe wouldn't have been able to be a football player in the 70s, 80s and 90s when they tackled during practice and everyone had two a days.
