Lamar Jackson

For me, I don't care if Lamar sits out if he feels he can't play uninhibited and without the risk of reinjury. I will always stand up for the players. Teams will cut you without hesitation to save money if they don't think you're up to snuff or if they feel they can acquire cheaper services elsewhere.

It's really easy for people to say he should play and put himself out there, but if Lamar suffered an Alex Smith level knee injury, no one here would rush to help him out, nor would his teammates.

I'm always in favor of the player doing what is in their best interest health wise because the team won't always.

im shocked there are so many former players saying he should play - making up sources and shit based on hearsay and deciding that lamar's injury isnt that bad lol

just ridiculous

everyone who's ever seen lamar speak or talked to him or seen him play football knows that he would do anything to be out there lol - the fact he isnt out there means he cant play

If Lamar didn't want to play without the contract, he would have done that before the season even started.

Lobby that wanted him at WR/RB is in full swing and I really don't know why aren't the Ravens doing anything to protect him, if they are honest when saying they still want him long term.

if he was holding out he wouldnt have played this year
the idea that he would hold out in the playoffs after deciding to play the regular season just doesnt pass the smell test

It must be hard to just exist right now as Lamar Jackson. Everyone has your name in their mouth and it's almost exclusively nagative. This follows all of the Lamar is a running back narratives and he can't win in the postseason bashing. Lamar had a tiny reprieve of not being bashed in 2019 but that's it, his whole career has been fighting the media.

I think Lamar wanted to go out this season and prove he was worth the number he wanted. The Ravens say they are going to pick back up after the season. We'll of course they are, because they view Lamar's value as being the same or lower to what they offered. Lamar isn't going to go for that.

That leaves you with the tag. I'm almost certain you see that Lamar plays on the tag or is tagged and traded. But I don't see a long term deal being reached this offseason.

Idk who Mike Popovic is but he said on 105.7 that Lamar is simply lying about having a borderline grade 3 PCL sprain and is capable of playing right now.

Journalists are out here just accusing Lamar of lying. Like this is getting ridiculous. The situation becomes such a lose lose.

If Lamar is not healthy than he's getting slandered and he's not able to help us out these playoffs.

If Lamar is straight up lying, that's an awful situation to be in with the team, lockeroom, FO, and the prospects of him being here long term.

I do not think Lamar is lying AT ALL. But what a shit situation all around.

i just dont agree with this lol
we've seen what this team is without lamar...

and the front office are not naive - they know they get no discount after the year lol - they know the negotiations start with their last offer as the baseline

I have to disagree with you here, but if that is the case we will be set with 1st round picks for a while.

That being said, 1st round picks or not doesn't give us as much of a winning percentage we have had with Lamar nor does it increase our winning percentage in the playoffs.
This is where I disagree. There's no way you can make that statement with any certainty despite how irreplaceable Lamar might appear to be. It's like you can't say we would have won this game or that with the FG they didn't go for because they tried a 4th and 1 or a missed pick six or something. We just don't know. I don't think anyone would have expected Joe Flacco to be able to manage the OFF his rookie year to the AFC Championship. You just don't know. After all, I look at both times we won the Super Bowl as catching lightening in a bottle. I feel like they caught lightening in a bottle last year in the draft with the assets they acquired from the Hollywood trade. You just never know. Lamar himself getting on the field is lightening in a bottle. He was being sold on draft day by everyone but us as a potential WR and we clearly knew different.

I agree though. The Ravens aren't moving off their number based off what happened this season imo

I disagree with 2019. Even in THAT season, he was getting nitpicked for small shit. Goalposts were being moved. Some were saying he just had a good season and that's it.

i think there's a bunch of journalists in baltimore right now who'd better hope lamar doesnt sign here long-term or they're about to be persona non grata for a long long long time

Fuck that. That's a character assassination on Lamar. This is worse than Hensley's comments.

except i just dont think that's how negotiating works
they gave him an offer knowing they still had a year or more's worth of negotiating time

it's their last offer, not their final offer

they know the number gets bigger every time they come back to the table - and especially now that the franchise tag number is bigger than any cap hit an extension would bring

What a joke this situation has become. Has there been a comparison to another player in the past having a media situation like this?

Somebody made a valid point and said this

"in the last 2 years, yall watched Ronnie Stanley, Nick Boyle, JK Dobbins, Rashod Bateman, Gus Edwards, and Derek Wolfe ALL get misdiagnosed and have their "treatments" take longer due to this teams training staff.....but Lamar is wrong for seeking rehab outside?"

They're already irrelevant in my eyes. The ONLY Ravens media person I will listen to is the GOAT Jeff Zrebiec.

if we find out from jeff that stuff like this is happening then ill believe it
if the ravens tell us this is happening then ill believe it
if schefter/rapsheet/garofolo tell us this is happening then ill believe it

outside of those places im not believing any of this over the words of lamar

I mean you're not wrong. But I think for that exact reason the Ravens are actually fools for not already locking him up.

But when I've been saying they're not coming off their number, it's because I have this disgusting sinking feeling that they're gonna tag and trade him. I hope they don't. I'll be so sad, but I have such a bad feeling about this whole situation.

If they do that, we'll look like such a scumbag organization.

we also, again, have only heard that from banks and nowhere else...

rapsheet said they're open to negotiating
they know what that means

that already tells me they've got a higher number to offer him - or a deal they think is worth his time (even if it's not quite high enough to make him sign) - if they already know they're tagging and trading him, they're not going back to the negotiating table
