Lamar Jackson

There's no way the Giants are going to exclusive tag him. They'd gladly take two first rounders for him if somebody offered.
That’s why so said non exclusive

If we tag Lamar on 3/7, hes as good as gone.
To be clear, they likely wouldn't trade until at least late April (right before the draft). The tag $ in March is going to the be the non-exclusive amount, which is like $31M. They'll have no problem carrying that, because realistically, even on an extension, his year 1 cap hit would be at least $20-25M.

The problem becomes in late April when the number jumps from $31M to $40-$45M. I don't see them trading him in March, because there's really no point to do so.

Yep, assuming they go with the exclusive, he's not getting traded before then if I had to guess. Still time to make our standards cuts, play in FA a little bit, and assess where we're at with Lamar. If you think you can get a long term deal done, you'll restructure probably Ronnie and Marlon in April and have the room to absorb that additional $14M. If you're just so far apart, maybe then is the time to start looking seriously at trade options. The idea that tagging him at all means he's gone is absurd.

Do you think they haven't already?

I think the problem I have is, even at the $31M cap number in FA, without the restructures, I think you'll basically only have maybe $10-15M to play with. And that's assuming the make 3-4 cuts we're expecting AND they manage to extend or lower the hits for Campbell and Zeitler.

$10-15M isn't nothing, but its not much either. Especially in a climate like this year, where there's a lot of teams with a lot of $ to spend.

It's not like we don't have any $ but we need 6m for the draft, and that leaves us with 21m for Lamar, but we can't make moves.

Basically, you can do contract restructures to afford the Lamar tag increase + draft picks and maybe enough to carry into the season. But it'll be extremely tight.

Whatever space we're able to create for FA will come from roster cuts and extensions is the way I look at it.

I guess I just don’t see us going crazy out there for one. Honestly guessing we’ll get back to playing the comp pick game more this year.

I wouldn't even bank on that. There's basically two players who are FAs who would leave for any decent chunk of $... Powers and Peters. You still have to end up as a net loser in FA in terms of lost players AND they have to qualify.

I'm not sure either would net anything more than a 5th rounder based on contract value, and I also suspect we may end up signing somebody (like a WR) that could be in the same price range as like what Peters may get.

So I think it'll be more of the we'll sign multiple FAs, but they'll be the $5-6M a year types. More Morgan Moses and less Marcus Williams.

Pretty much everyone on the forums are a ravens fan and not a Lamar fan and most of us were posting on the official ravens forum during the flacco days
Whats going on is a real shame . Lamar is the best QB the Ravens have ever had and it seems its not gonna work out in the long term.

I'd prefer Powers back because Peters is older and will likely cost more

I don't think Peters will cost more than Powers. I think they'll cost roughly the same or Powers will cost a little more.
I'm highly intrigued to see what the market for Peters looks like.

I mean what do you think we'd pay Powers?
7m? Peters wants at lest 10

I think Powers will have a robust market and can probably fetch $9-10M AAV.

I honestly don't know what Peters will get. I actually think he may need to settle for 1-2 year deals in a lot of spots. I'd say $10M is probably in the range, but if its a one year deal, it'll be less.

Peters will likely get somewhere within 8-12m AAV
