Lamar Jackson

Can someone explain to me what the fear is with paying Lamar fully guaranteed money? Bc if it's because it won't let us make splashy moves on offense to get him help then I don't see the issue because we did not do that during the rookie contract.

I think you’d have to be more specific. How much and for how long. I don’t care if he gets a guaranteed deal, but I am worried about the large caps hits if he’s topping Watson.

1. Injury concerns. Hasn't finished a season in two years. Wouldn't want to commit long term guaranteed $ to a player who's not shown they can stay healthy in critical spots.
2. Mostly an "Owner" view, but I'm not giving out a 5 year full gtd deal at that price point to anybody, because there's no guarantees he's going to be a high-end player in 5 years. If he starts to trend downwards after 2-3 years, there's nothing I can do about it. I just have to pay him to be worse.

I've been seeing the word "deserves" all over the internet lately when it comes to QB's getting paid. I think it weird lol

Jones and his agent are going to go in there with what they think he is worth, the same way Watson and Kyler did.

It's up to the team whether or not they want to go through a rebuild and find another QB. What is stability at the position worth?
