Lamar Jackson

Problem is we're almost out of time. Assuming he suits up, he's basically 21 months from being a UFA. And realistically, barring a long term extension, great shot he's playing in another uniform as soon as two weeks from now, or next year.

Maybe I am too optimistic about all this but that kid looks like he wants to be a Raven.

Well, mostly, because what Ben said isn't really wrong. I don't think any team that schemes to stop Lamar focus on trying to take away his ability to throw the football. I think they'll scheme to take away his TEs and flood the middle of the field, but keeping Lamar in the pocket is precisely what teams typically want when they play us.
Who are you?? Nah... just kidding. You are the forum's contrarian! Lol!

I mean... he's already made it known publicly that he requested a trade in early March. People drop that request frequently, but that's at least some indication that he's at least somewhat serious about playing elsewhere.

I'm not trading him this year. I'm a fan of Young and Stroud, but I don't have a lot of interest in any other QB in this draft. So if a draft-night trade doesn't get us to where we can select one of those two (and at least one of them will obviously be gone by then), then no point in trading him now for me. Let him play the year under the FT, and if he's still disgruntled, trade him next offseason.
Depends on which Lamar shows up. Disgruntled Lamar isn't going to give 100% and why would he if he's playing under the FT, a fraction of what he apparently thinks he's worth.

Then that's on him. Will be a reflection of his play and performance, and every team in the league will take note and assess accordingly. The market already hasn't reacted nearly as favorably to him being "available" as he thinks it should have. That market isn't going to increase with a player who's lack of motivation shines through to his on-field performance.

If that's how it plays out, then that's what I'm counting on.

Teams have already taken note of his long healing time from injuries when other Qb's like Brady played on torn MCL's. Hell Mahomes played one one fucking leg during the Super Bowl.

Well they're also dramatically different injuries and have less impact on players who aren't as mobile. So don't think recovery time is a factor. It's the volume of injuries themselves.

might as well just do nothing then for the next 2 years and just wait for the inevitable heat death of the universe...

Shit Lamar didnt have to run, Dobbins(who should have carried the ball instead of Tyler ) and Edwards could have handled it.

Na. That's no fun. Trade next years first rounder for Hopkins, give him a raise, and then snag another first rounder in the draft for good measure. We need to be 5 deep with high level targets for our year-to-year QB who's as durable and reliable as they come.

We are clowned all day every day lol. We are in such a weird position.

Said you, and only you.

You certain of that? Doesn't seem like you have a good "pulse" of the fanbase.
And that's a conservative view point. Honestly Hopkins, OBJ and a first rounder seems like the bare minimum for a high-end QB. Most high-end QBs go 6-7 deep at the position.

So better start targeting expensive FAs next year too.
