Lamar Jackson

If Burrow was missing Chase tho we’d never hear the end of it. No one even mentions Lamar missing Flowers. Now I understand the significance of what each offense revolves around, but good god, I’d like the media to acknowledge Lamar led a game tying (almost) drive with special teams gunners
don't hold your breath

I never expected him to get MVP but he was able to get us into the playoffs where Flacco was not going to lead us to the playoffs in 2018. That's all I'm saying.
I’m saying in 2018 how he played looked so bad that he was 300-1 to win MVP going into 2019. It’s a classic example of why wins are a team stat and not a QB nor a G stat nor a K stat.

He made great strides that offseason (and in more proof that wins are not a QB he continued to get better every year despite not matching that record).

I guess my question is if you win the MVP, how can you be rated "higher" than literally the best player in football? I don't see the point in giving "more credit" to an MVP with bad weapons. He's already gotten the max credit, and he earned the criticism he got for both he and the teams playoff performance that year.

And I'm not one of these guys that thinks wins and playoff performance is the only metric that means anything for a QB. I'd take Dan Marino over John Elway every single day as a better NFL QB. I'm not even sure its close either. And I think Peyton Manning was better than Tom Brady.
Ngl, i use to think peyton was better than brady too. Well actually he may still be better but brady mental is what separates him from everyone. I actually believe arod is the best passer of the football ever but then he gets to the playoffs and dink and donks..

Yea you’re right, more people in the media blame him for a bad throw to Andrews lmao. Including Chris Simms, he’s been there before!

God I hate that video of his condescension and acting like he’s ever been there or anywhere close
he needs to remember that he isn't his dad, not even close.

But its not a QB ranking list. Its a tier list and 46/50 basically all agreed on the same big 4 QBs as everyone else. I'm sure they differed on the order but that was not what this was a survey of. Mahomes is unquestionably a tier 1 QB (and honestly unquestionably the best QB in football). After that you can fight about the other 3.

I just dont see the big deal about "92% of the respondents all agreed and 8% held out" as some massive joke. 8% of people being irrational and stubborn is a lower number than I expected.

The ridiculous thing is there were 4 people who didn’t think Lamar was tier 1

That’s indefensible

Its because people are aware that he has had some of the worst weapons in the NFL the past couple years. At one point their WR1 was a player cut by the Patriots (so another team with bottom 5 weapons). Their RB was hurt most of the year, their T position was so poor they had to try out a G at T for the Super Bowl, and Kelce is clearly several steps slower.

There is also that in the big moments he finds a way to make all that look decent. Obviously Mahomes has the better career resume. Lamar could win the next 2 Super Bowls and an MVP and Mahomes still has the better career resume. But he is universally considered the best because people watch the games and see him win with nothing.

Lamar didn’t get that grace in 2018-2022 when he had an awful receiving corps

Again what the Chiefs have had the past 2 years was dramatically worse. The way they are signing cut players from bad teams to be their number 1 WR was giving me 2015 Ravens vibes and the way they had to sign a RB off the street to start gave me 2021 Ravens vibes.

Also Lamar got a ton of grace from 2020-2022 (he didn't exactly need "grace" when they are voting him MVP). When you think about the fact that going into 2023 he had had a rough rookie year, a dynamic 2019, and then had not live dup to that production since, they still had him in that 6-8 range which at the time was fair all things considered and was a lot of grace.

Lamar was throwing to geriatric desean Jackson in meaningful games… that’s far worse than anything mahomes has had - mahomes has also had kelce the whole time (and tyreek for a few years too)

And during that time he put up historic numbers. Im not talking about those times and they were not the subject of the conversation but the past two years were when he his number 1 options at WR were awful. The fact that the Patriots, another team with bottom 5 weapons, cut JuJu and then he instantly was the best WR on KC says all that needs to be said. I put that right up there with Kamar Aiken as the top option. Or we could talk their RB who broke his leg and they had to sign Hunt off the street to play significant snaps. Their best weapon is Kelce who is noticeably slower than he used to be and has one foot out the door already.

I think this roster could be one of those you look back for decades mind blown at how many solid to great players were on one roster. Really hoping a lot of these young guns pan out, I know we are always optimistic on some but hey so many of them turn out. I'm obsessed with Basil rn

We played the Vikings in 2016 I think with Mike Wallace and someone else out. We were starting chris Moore and my aunt. Love me some Aiken tho he was a nasty wr 3 vicious in the run game too

I was at a wedding in NYC last night and got in a Lamar vs Burrow debate, the guy tried to say Burrow has no help and we’d have won a Super Bowl with him or Stafford lol

I guess I should be happy that these people can no longer deny Lamar top 4 status, before they’d say all the other goalposts Lamar has shattered

Had a similar discussion with the produce guy at Costco yesterday, he was wearing a Steelers jacket. lol He said we were not going anywhere in the playoffs because of LJ.

Right or wrong, outside of the Baltimore fan base it’s a prevalent notion that Lamar has held us back in the post season.

That superbowl run the Bengals had really warped everyone’s perception of him
