Lamar Jackson

I think Lamar is insanely talented. I just can’t help but notice how quarterbacks who come into the league running like he does end up not in the league after a few years generally. Sure Wilson, Rodgers, Mahomes, there some mobile qbs who use their feet but generally just to set up the pass and take the run if it’s wide open. Newton is a bit of an exception, he runs a lot but he’s more built for it, and even in his case his successes have some asterisk marks on them.

I never presented a dichotomy of dynamic or quarterback ; you can’t be both. I said it’s a shame we haven’t tried/succeeded for five fucking years or really longer to get a dynamic playmaker , now we have one but it’s a at least currently run first quarterback. It’d be awesome to see a player with his athleticism as a utility back. I compared him to Edelman who’s white. Jesus Christ. I don’t care what skin color the qb has. He could be a gay transgender black Hispanic Asian mix and I wouldn’t give a fuck. All I care is if he/she/they are a good quarterback.

show me one situation in any of the 3 games in a non-designed run situation (of which i can think of less than 10) where lamar was run-first...

no one except michael vick has ever run like lamar does at qb - and lamar is a very different qb to vick

Anyone who STILL thinks Lamar is run first either literally doesn’t watch him play or has no idea how to tell a designed run from a non designed run

If I was the Ravens I would have made a complaint over that BS concussion protocol nonsense on Sunday that the noise was too loud so they had to take our starting quarterback to the locker room to do another examination keeping our starting quarterback off the field for a ridiculous amount of time because a players foot came up and connected with his face mask. I hate that type of nonsense can effect the outcome of the game. I don’t trust this crap at all. If you can bet on a sports game, you can have questionable BS like we saw on Sunday. We were getting screwed. It is bad enough the refs can effect a game the way they do.

By run first I mean his running is what he relies on and we design and run a lot of designed Lamar run Plays compared to quarterbacks who are just mobile/scrambling when they need to

it was all a bit of a farce and we had multiple players take a while to get through the protocol - although by lamar's only account he was a bit dizzy after the hit so it may have been that they had to continue to the next stage of the concussion protocol checks

as far as im aware its not a straight pass-fail in various situations

When Lamar just runs when it’s available, emergency/desperatation time or to escape pressure, I won’t consider him run first anymore.

in terms of pure designed runs id be very surprised if we run dramatically more than with other running qbs like Cam, watson, allen

Exactly. It’s not like we think Joe is perfect or the best in the league. But Lamar is barely getting it done WITH the entire defense looking for him to run and almost all of his pass plays are completions to receivers who are wide open from the defense being focused on the run.

Now that’s great but once the run gets stopped, that’s it. He has to beat them with his arm or he’ll get crazier with his running and that’s not a good long term strategy.
If Lamar is barely getting it done with three wins than Joe was not getting it done period and I will emphasize that I’m not a Flacco hater. Watch Lamar’s mechanics in college and watch them now, it’s like night and day and he is putting in the work to improve. These games are helping him and if we can win and develop him that’s even better.

dont hype that throw john brown was wide open he just found him and the throw against the raiders john brown had atleast two steps on that guy yeah it was right on him but Joe makes that throw all day along with the two others he missed on John brown yesterday that would've been touchdowns the short slant on third down that Lamar missed john brown was taking that to the house there was no one in front of him
Brown may have been wide open at that point, but Flacco would have been sacked. That was a great play, take the blinders off. It was Lamar’s ability to step up and escape the pocket that gave Brown the ability to get wide open.

If his mechanics are that improved and his accuracy is still this bad then that doesn’t make me feel better lol

You obviously don’t watch film if you are saying this. He wants to improve and many QBs don’t give a crap when they get into this league. His attitude is what will raise his ability as a passer, because he far and away has the talent.

Yes Joe probably would've but for every play you have that Lamar could make I have one Joe could've make like the three missed throws to john brown Sunday

what about zone-reads - because that's the vast majority of his runs

When we move the offense by running a significantly large percentage of those plays, I’d still call that a run first qb

This reminds me of when Kap took over for Smith. Except Kap was a better passer and stronger arm, but still Kaps main strength was running those zone reads and RPOs and running the ball was how they came back so viscuously against us in that second half
