Lamar Jackson

How do we think this Lamar situation resolves? I want long term deal 1st and foremost by a million percent. But I'd much rather trade him then go the multiple year franchise tag route. That'll ruin this team without giving it the short term window to really really really compete for a bowl

Who knows but I do know I don’t feel like doing this again next year. I hope we pay him a billion dollars or trade him this off season.

Im so indifferent at this point honestly. I can see both routes being a success or failure for us. The injuries are another wrench thrown into the mix. Tough call for Bisciotti.

I’d rather have Lamar back and a healthy/improved WR/TE corps. Feels like we are immediate contenders for a Super Bowl if healthy.

I’m also not going to lose my shit it we get a whole bunch of draft picks for Lamar. Maybe draft a QB this year or find a bridge guy like Carr, Garapollo, Winston etc .. Someone that can make all the throws but we don’t need to be special considering the level of our defense

Totally agree. I'd infinitely rather see what Lamar can do with real talent around him. Sign him up long term and give us another 2 years of being up there with the Chiefs and Bills.

If not, trade him to Houston for a gagillion picks or to Las Vegas where you can get someone like a Derek Carr in the package to bridge you nicely as your star rookie 1st round pick is developing
 
I love Lamar but I think he should move on

if there's a chance we sign him with more time then im fine going franchise tag - yes the team wont be at it's full potential in 2023 but if it means we're able to long-term sign Lamar for the future then ill live with that

obviously the most preferable outcome is that this gets done before free agency opens

my stance with Lamar is unchanged from when all this contract stuff started nearly 2 years ago...

maybe it doesnt work... but we've got to see this through - we've never had a player like this at this position, we've got to pay him and find out - can't be left wondering "what if" if we let him go - so dont let him go and find out the "what if"

If he stays he's going to wonder what if the Ravens cared about quality wr options and creative OCs

It such Ravens move to have a generational type talent then proceed to waste his rookie contract and play games come contract time
 
If LJ really was pushing for a fully guaranteed contract and that's just not something The Ravens want to do then they probably have to let LJ test the market so he can see his value. Of course they will still need to tag him so they can atleast trade him and get something back in return but a fully guarantee contract just doesn't make sense in this sports league where teams are limited on what they can do spending wise due to the cap.

For sure and not ideal. This situation should only happen if Lamar won’t budge and the Ravens take a forward approach to a lost cause rather than lose him in a couple years for nothing.
Just building for the future

I’m no cap guru but, the concern(real or not) is we’ll struggle to field a competitive team around him, especially in the later years of the deal. If the Ravens can pay him what he wants while maintaining a talented core than I’m all for it. Even with the injuries the risk is well worth the reward.

If not, then it feels irresponsible to throw out a blank check.

no reason to think they cant build around him as long as he's here long-term...
and if he is here long-term he basically becomes a stakeholder with some say in what he wants put around him
 
if anyone would like to start a thread of OC options, than so be it. It definitely is time. Lets be realistic and keep it to OC options, because Harbaugh is going nowhere.
