Did no one see the Jim trotter thing the other day about pcl injuries and another player saying he gets it with Lamar because he got hurt in week 5 and his knee is still not better in week 18

When we clinched the playoff spot on Christmas Eve, I ain't gonna lie, I celebrated like we made it to the AFC Championship. Deep down, I figured that was gonna be the last time we win a game this season. Of course I wanted to beat the Steelers and give Tomlin his first losing record, but again deep down, I didn't give AF about that game just like I didn't care about this past game.

Honestly, I feel apathetic about this game. I still want us to extend Lamar and roll with it until the rails come off (word to @rossihunter2 and sorry if I didn't word it like you did before), but I'm more and more concerned about his long-term availability.

To piggyback off @Simba 's point about this year's AFC, what's gonna annoy me more than anything next season is that it all comes together.................

......only for at least one of the Bengals, Bills and/or the Chiefs to also have a great start to the season and we're unable to clinch the first round bye or even the division (like 2020).

Have to agree that there’s some longer term questions but it’s also not like he’s reinjuring the same parts of his body on repeat and also don’t seem to be wear related injuries - 2021 was a low hit where his ankle got stuck between the defenders body and the ground and 2022 was a pcl sprain

And as you say - as much as there are now concerns, you’ve got to see this through

I mean it’s definitely frustrating Lamar is out but I don’t think I can jump on the “get out of Baltimore” train we have docked right now for Lamar. Lamar is an elite talent no two ways about it. He’s got his issues but so does every player. If I’m the Ravens only way I trade Lamar is if he doesn’t want to be here.

Lol post super until drafting Lamar we were 40-40. During that time we also had our first and only playoff victory in Pitt. Take away the injury riddled season where we had to start Jimmy Clasuen and we’re 35-29.

All while having arguably two of the worst drafts in Ravens history. I’d hardly call that “total obscurity”.
 
Positive news out of all this + the Roquan deal is I'm guessing a Lamar deal gets done much sooner. Lamar is playing a risky game and is looking at 45 mil guaranteed on the franchise tag or signing a reasonable contract and get 100-175 mil guaranteed. Ravens held firm on not giving him a silly Watson deal , while also showing they are very fair and reasonable with a top market deal for Roquan. Lamar can secure a huge pay now or risk further injury on a smaller payday and loosing out on a top contract down the road.

I do think that if Lamar had any doubt about the process with EDC, that Roquan getting this deal and being vocally happy with both the deal and the negotiations as also someone who represented themself, that this will have helped assuage some of those doubts

I do think, though, that as the fully guaranteed money approaches 200m, the more likely Lamar is to sign - don’t think he’s actually looking to turn that sort of guaranteed money down just to quibble over 50m in guarantees in the last year of a 5 year deal that he’ll likely get extended before he gets to anyway… especially given how he responded to that question about it when espn did some reporting on the eve of week 1

Different position group and isn't the deal basically 3 years 45 or 60 mil?

Also, another report says someone suffered a sprain week 1 and still isn't fully back yet. None of us know the contract situation, the extent of his injury or treatment info.

For me it just seems like there's an unbridgeable gap between what deal Lamar will take vs what the Ravens will offer. I don't think it's going to change.

I'll be happy if I'm wrong, and if I'm right then I hope he's amazing on his new team and they give him a better situation than we did.

if they trade him, it most likely won't be to Miami. Miami doesn't have their own 1st round draft pick due to tampering and the other one is the Niners pick, which is too late in the 1st round. Highly unlikely Miami will be the trade partner, if there is one.
