Lamar Jackson

According to this article by a respected journalist, the Ravens still very much want a deal with Lamar done after the season is over .

What else can they say, really...

To the point of all of this swirling intrigue about Lamar's injury and rehab and who knew what and when, I don't like Mike Preston any more or less than anyone else. I don't read the Fishwrap anymore. What I find interesting about that article and his subsequent "correction," however, is his initial comment that his sources had the Ravens as disatisfied with Lamar's rehab and not doing rehab at the facility. Obviously, we don't know his "source," but I do have a problem with the generalization that MP made it up for clicks. Maybe so, but I just don't really see that. What I see as more likely is that someone spoke to him and at worst he interpreted that to be the case or that someone said directly that. But the fact that there seems to now be some sort of corroboration that there was some dissatisfaction within the organization.

With all that has happened since with JH's statement, Sammy's statement, Lamar's statement, and, frankly, what was said about Roman after that one loss a few weeks back with papers being left around the Castle with "Fire Roman," or whatever that was... there is some shit not straight with this team. And that includes coaching, players, and the FO.

It is in both the team's and Lamar's interest for him to be on the field. Did they both slow/down-play injury reports? Probably. It was probably doubtful that he would be able to play again from both camps from early on because they were the ONLY ones who knew the full extent of the injury, but neither is going to come right out and say that. But there's certainly nothing wrong with the "wait and see" approach.

The problem is that loose lips sink ships. And this is even more true when you throw egos into the mix and social media and aggressive reporters who wanna be first to report instead of accurate (necessarily) in those reports. The most likely explanation in all of this is that it was slow-played, somebody got agitated about something said, there was an attempted "fix" that made things worse... ugh.

My only hope is that they rally, regroup, and get every bit of frustration out by kicking the shit out of the Bungles tomorrow night.

The sample size suggests he can beat horrid offenses. He is NOT going to lead the team to .500 against actually quality teams.

A Carr/Jimmy G could probably make the Ravens low level playoff contenders, but they're spending A LOT for that to happen, which if they're trading Lamar, probably won't happen.

Let's say Carr or Jimmy is currently on this version of the team, just how good do you think we would be with the weapons we currently have?

Regardless of who the QB is next year, they need a major upgrade of the WR group. I think EDC gets that. But they also need a change of offensive philisophy and that"s why GRo gotta go. I think even Harbs gets that.

I think that is our biggest need and has been ever since Steve Smith left.

You must have stopped watching the games when Jackson went down because averaging under 12 points a game is competitive to you?
Lol no , my point was if we had to get a first round rookie QB or a bridge QB we would remain competitive because of the defense. The fact we won any games averaging just 12 points and starting a bum like Huntley is a testament to that

Last year was nice, you're right. Hollywood is gone now. It's sad, really
WR has been a team weakness for years. Have to change the offensive philosophy, imo for 2 reasons: you need some semblance of a passing game beyond Mark Andrews and an unheathy Bateman to win playoff games and without a more balanced offense, you're never gonna get quality WR'S to come (vets) and/or stay (Hollywood). The stats will effect their salaries when they move on to other teams.

would be really nice to have a new OC, and a star receiver, but whatever, I guess

Solution to all issues!!!
Put Likely and Kolar out as receivers every play. Who needs WRs anyway???

His reaction at the presser after the negotiating window closed seemed to indicate that 200m guaranteed would have been tough to turn down
To me, that’s the number that I think gets it done. No strong evidence, but a gut feeling. There’s principle and then there’s just being stupid turning money like that down, and I feel like his team isn’t going to let that happen

We will eventually graduate the conversation to our philosophy on offense even before Lamar Jackson.

I always thought that an offense that involved more spread and PA from the spread would benefit Jackson as he develops. Instead it's turned into the Dolphins WildCat and Lamar is Ronnie Brown. The WRs are for show.

IMO, he's definitely worth more than Kyler Murray. not sure what his guaranteed contract is.
