Lamar Jackson

Those Bucs teams were trash (2016 finished strong after a trash start). Jameis was a walking tick time bomb.....I mean INT machine.

In 2019, wasn't Freddie Kitchens the one calling plays? That Browns offense in 2019 should've been bitch-slapping defenses the way we did in the regular season. Problem for them? Baker was laughably trash in that season.

Basically my point is that I don't know how much Monken was responsible for the failures of the Bucs and Browns. However, he helped make Georgia a really good offense with what's been reported about his adaptability. I'm not gonna put MUCH stock into his history. Remember, Wink had a bottom ranked defense in Denver before he left, but made our defense a top 10 unit for a few seasons prior to 2021.
I’m a little bummed we didn’t go with a younger candidate. I’m not a huge fan of pairing Lamar with a 60 year old

Question is, did Lamar approve this hiring?
I’d imagine he did , but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Lamar contract and OC hire were viewed as unrelated issues by the FO

I mean.....I get it. Even if we went with a younger candidate, we would have to hope that said candidate has zero interest in being a HC or we'd be back in this same predicament if he gets our offense back to top 5 (top 10 at least) on a yearly basis.

I doubt Lamar is approving anything. Harbaugh and Co. probably talked to him, tried to understand what he wants to see, and identified candidates that fit the criteria. Highly doubt Lamar was approving or disapproving anything.

His input really shouldn't matter much if you're hiring a good OC.

Also we don't even know if he's our future.

If players hired coaches, there would be even more firings year after year. Think people really misconstrue what it means to have a player involved. That was Harbaugh's decision alone. I'm sure he considered the factors but Lamar had nothing more than a probably a couple of conversations.

I know there are a lot of Brady haters on here but Brady is the GOAT. Mahomes is on his way but needs some more time. Don’t @ me.

Don't think the age really matters. Half of the young guys flame out anyway, and whoever we got has no play calling experience to begin with, so its a dart throw.

I'm also not really tying my OC hire to a QB until I know that QB is committed to being here long term (which at the moment, he's not). There's plenty of possibilities where Monken is the OC of this team in 2024 and Lamar isn't on it.

Right so I assume Lamar approves.

I know you don't like Brady but he didn't start crying for flags until around 09. I don't think I'd knock his toughness. For the first 3, he took his share of hits.

I personally still don't mind if you want to put Montana ahead. This GOAT debate is impossible to realistically have. No one knows all eras and I don't trust their memory if they have seen all of the NFL. For Brady's generation, I think it's hard to say he wasn't the best. Makes it a lot easier when Manning was constantly shitting himself in big moments.
It’s fair to say he was the best in the league for a few years, won’t argue that. But he is in no way the goat, that’s just media hype.
