Lamar Jackson

Well the teams that would make "some sense"...
Patriots, Commanders, Falcons, Texans, Colts, Lions, Bucs.

Of that group... I think half those teams couldn't structure an offer sheet we couldn't match. I think the Texans will just draft somebody (and maybe the Colts).

I still think the Falcons and Colts are probably the two I'd be most concerned about.
But the Falcons have already said they are not interested unless thats all nonsense. The Colts, yeah I could see that. The irony of Lamar going to Indy who took the Colts is just too much if that happened.

People can say whatever they want. Will see what happens. I don't rule anybody out until they take an action that directly indicates they're out. Teams like the Jets, Raiders, Dolphins, etc. have taken significant actions that basically make it impossible to add him. Same with Carolina.

Falcons haven't done that. I would think Washington would be a frontrunner too, but I just imagine Snyder botching the offer and somehow coming in lower than the Ravens.

PRECISELY

Tampa is a sleeper and Lamar would love to be back in Florida.

Salary cap can certainly be manipulated, but I struggle to see where they'll create the space needed.

That's like 80% of the problem. Whether these teams are interested or not is kind of irrelevant. What's relevant is whether they can structure a deal that the Ravens can't match.

A team like Tampa I just struggle seeing how that's possible.

Saints can sign Carr, it doesn't matter

true. But Tampa's was better ngl
No, it wasn't. And still isn't.

You do realize the reason they can sign Carr is because they BACKLOADED his deal, right? If they backloaded an offer for Lamar, the Ravens would just match LOL. That's kind of exactly what the Ravens want.

They have to front-load a deal to get the Ravens to not match it.

that's true. I forgot about that.
Tampa had some advantages, New Orleans had some, but now, sure NO has a better situation

So who is left in the possible Lamar hunt? Raiders gone now. I guess Jets would be NO. 1 if they dont sign Rodgers.

If they sign Rodgers, who is left??
Better hope it’s us cause after Lamar the list of who’s left is stone cold ugly.

...any team in the draft looking for a QB is still in on Lamar, especially if the one they covet is gone. All this "not interested/ not in on Lamar" is bullshit. And now that everyone knows our offer per Schefter, just beating that by a good margin will be enough to get him.

I think what that offer makes clear is that the Ravens love Lamar, but that while he's an important part of the team, he ain't the whole team. Bravo to them. Hold fast to that deal or close to it. Let him go if needs be, but know that he is leveraged into a must play season at a lower rate enabling us to get some FA talent.

For those that haven't see, Schefter gave details on the Ravens offer. Nothing particularly newsworthy about it, other than just confirms that the Ravens offer is massive:

I get this language is typical for contracts but why didn't they initially report the total gtd? Instead they became hell bent on reporting 133 gtd at signing…

Because technically gtd at signing is the only thing that's truly "guaranteed". Everything else is usually escalators or "rolling guarantees". Theoretically the Ravens could move off of him and not pay him that if he were to get like get injured early.

In reality, its an extremely standard deal for a player of his caliber. The difference is its not $230M+ in total guarantees, and its not fully guaranteed. Pretty easy indication that Lamar is hung up on one or both of those items.

It's sort of the argument I had with McJacket a few pages back... He gets a big lump, like a signing bonus - that the team heavily places on the back end hoping to resign/restructure later, but if he plays out the contract, he's essentially "guaranteed" that money, but if he doesn't perform, the team has an out in a lower cap hit because the bulk has already been paid.
