Lamar Jackson

i mean it's a lower body injury - it will have manifestly affected him
not saying you get a pass - but players can suffer significant injuries that they can play through more easily (as long as they can manage the pain) because that injury isn't as "important" to the mechanics of his position

a QB's lower body is almost as important as his arm and hand in terms of throwing mechanics and generating power - and with lamar obviously it impacts as well in terms of the scrambling and QB run game

and frequently people use injuries to excuse players dropping their level in any given season

That's about as good a theory as i've been able to come up with. The leg injuries could have been affecting his footwork. Lamar might be a bit of a "Ferrari" in the sense that his play gets exponentially worse if he's not tip top.

Good news is on that 14 yd scramble he was borderline blurry fast for the 1st time all year. This is the week against a stout NE run D that he has got to run the rock. We will not move the ball against these guys unless we can gash em a few times and the only way that happens is Lamar freezing the LB's.

That was the worst decision he could have made for himself with the Browns.

I don't pretend to understand the whole saga surrounding the Browns at the time, but letting Baker go and then claiming they "wanted an adult in the room" after Baker played through an injury that should have ended his season, only to trade for Deshaun Watson who had known sexual assault allegations was... woof.

Everyone shit on him because he was playing poorly and nobody cared that he was hurt. This is why I laugh when people want players to play injured or that if they can step out there they are "healthy" enough just to get shit on when they can't replicate what you are used to seeing on the field.

No other QB gets shat on like our boy. Every other QB gets a ton of excuses - Lamar gets none. It's all his fault. Even when our D gives half a mile of yards, he should have gone for a full mile.

Fuck them all.

100% agreed.

I get people making the argument that "if they're healthy enough to play, no excuses," but it's not one I buy into.

A lot of these guys are extremely competitive and need to be protected from themselves. Some players do not know how to admit their performance will be significantly dampened by injury.

OK, so who's protecting them from themselves? If there's nobody for protection, then it doesn't matter. What does the discussion achieve if all parties are on the same page in regards to whether the player can play well enough to play or not?

There's a shit load of QBs that get a lot, lot, lot more criticism than Lamar. The people who think he's somehow the "only one" who gets criticized for being hurt, sitting out time for injuries, or being the only measuring stick for W/L record either a) are flat out lying, b) have zero fucking clue what they're talking about or c) have spent literally no time listening to anything that's said about other QBs, other teams, or really anything occurring outside of Baltimore. They've intentionally isolated themselves into some sort of factually inaccurate echo chamber. Which is precisely "on brand" for the majority of fans.

Well, the coaching staff should be considering they're the ones who are in charge of determining who is active and who isn't for game day.

The man.

Nick Wright called Lamar immature for always being sick I guess , how he pretends to not be a hater. I haven’t seen the take but not sure I want
I hate nick wright.

But also, every last one of us wonder every year why tf is Lamar always getting sick. He’s right that it’s completely abnormal. He needs to change something about how he’s spending his personal time during the season.

I don’t make as big a deal of it as nick, but he really is the only franchise qb with this particular issue, and it makes me wonder if he’s being irresponsible or if he’s just taking days off like your totally healthy coworker who calls out sick once a month.

I would bet most players get sick you just don't hear about it. Yes its annoying to see it happen yearly. The only reason I don't care that much is I don't think he's ever missed games because of it. Might just have to accept he has the immune system of a pre-k doorknob licker.

we know he had covid multiple times
i wonder if his immune system is just not as good as it should be for a guy that athletic
and we also know he's around some young kids who are notoriously disease carriers lol

i wonder if it's as simple as combining those two factors

and the fact that he was raised in florida and now lives in a place that actually gets really cold in winter lol

also calling in sick when you're sick is not irresponsible at all

To me it's absurd to compare someone's immune system with their maturity. If Lamar is telling the truth that he's been sick, then that it is what it is. The man is sick. If he's crying wolf that is a different situation. But what possible reason would we have to believe that.

Well, the coaching staff should be considering they're the ones who are in charge of determining who is active and who isn't for game day.
Yup. Which means the coaching staff thinks he's healthy enough to play, and Lamar thinks he's healthy to play. So who's suggesting he's not and why are they decision makers?

The man eats Alfredo before games. He’s definitely had the shits multiple times.
As someone with IBS, Lamar definitely has it lol

I wasn’t talking about people calling out when they’re sick lol but the people who constantly call out sick when they’re not sick

And I’m just saying whatever it is that’s causing it, at his stature, he should try to pinpoint why it keeps happening and work on avoiding it during the season.

In the offseason he can travel to mid 14th century Europe for all I care, but midseason let’s be a little more cautious
