The Pass Rush

Especially if the Steelers go into that game winless. We might as well just put all 11 guys into coverage.

Speaking of that - here’s a note from ken mckusick’s defensive breakdown:

‘On the last 3 plays of the first half, the Ravens played a quarter defense (7 DBs). In fact, this was an unusual quarter with 4 OLBs (Bowser, Judon, Smith, and Suggs) and 7 DBs (Weddle, Jefferson, Humphrey, Carr, Tavon Young, with Levine and Clark lined up where ILBs would normally be). Martindale continues to surprise with creativity to get his best pass rushers on the field. These 3 plays included 2 incomplete passes and a sack for 0.‘

So we got as close as possible really to 11 coverage players lol - we had 0 DL and 0 ILBs on the field

That would constitute a little different prevent defense from what we're all used to see.

interestingly Timmy's snap count did increase this week and I think its a trend we'll see continue if he keeps occupying defenders the way he has been because even if he doesnt get on the stat sheet its going to create opportunities for other defenders

he had 35% of the defensive snaps this week which is a significant improvement - 24 snaps this week - and noticeably it meant sizzle looked fresher towards the end of the game too

Tyus on the other hand still cant get on the field that much - 12 snaps - i wonder if that's partly down to him being the reason we had the punt blocked

I’d say it’s also largely due to tyus looking quite bad on the field. What I saw from him after rewatching was disappointing as shit. He made zero impact and had zero influence on any of the plays I saw, he looked like he was barely trying and was really making nothing of his snaps

we were obviously in love with that style of player from that draft class - im so glad we didnt go up and get haason reddick like it was rumoured we were interested in doing

i think tyus has shown strength in covering from OLB but for that to be a useful skill you have to be a threat off the edge which he has shown he can be at times but not as a starter-type player

Although Tyus didn’t play that much last year, early in the year he looked pretty good. He seems to be havin* a sophomore slump.

Yeah thank god we didn’t lol, I was really big on reddick but apparently size matters lol.

I know, that’s why I’m so disappointed

i never really liked the fit in baltimore most of all - but it looks like we missed a bullet because he really cant get on the field at all

Z'adarius Smith is doing a great job getting pressure....from the line with his hand in dirt as well as standing off the edge. Seems that the days of him bull rushing and having not much else are gone. You can tell he's been working on his hands and on counters. Besides all that, he is absolutely relentless and violent. Remember they brought him in with the idea that he would take on the Pernell McPhee role?

Good I hope he plays his heart out so he can leave after this season and give us a nice little comp pick

This is the NFL's Newest video to explain the new bodyweight rule. You basically have to arm tackle the QB, good luck taking Ben to the ground.

the stupid thing about the video is they illustrate 2 completely different situations and equate them - all the "correct" and "legal" sacks come in from edge rush type angles whereas most of the "illegal" sacks/hits come in from straighter or more interior angles which naturally means that their weight is going to be more front on - none of the "legal" hits dealt with that same issue

Friendly reminder that Juju Smith Schuster could have been had instead.

he was one of my guys and i was gutted we didnt go and get him - i was more gutted we didnt go and get tim williams - but then we did get him in round 3 anyway so that kind of alleviated a lot of my tension lol
