The Defence, The Offence and The Clutching Defeat from the Jaws of Victory

I’ll say Huntley rebounded well and had nice plays but he is clearly off. Not sure if it’s the shoulder or what but he didn’t take care of the football and looked lost at times. We still need a better backup QB and I’d look at drafting one here next year. It obviously depends on this Lamar situation. If he is for some reason gone then they changes a lot but either way we need some real competition,

Excellent hint at who the next OC will be
Maybe. Urban does have some experience working with good offensive minds such as Andy Reid, Hue Jackson and Jay Gruden. It be interesting to see what type of offense he would run though but we shall see if he's the next guy in line for the OC job if the The Ravens allow Romans contract expire

Wait was Romans last year on his contract this past season?

Again, no shame losing tonight. It sucks that we were so close, but who knows what happens had we scored rather than that ridiculous fumble/td return happening. Boys fought hard in a more than tough situation. Harbs deserves a lot of credit to be able to keep the team focused with all of the distractions leading up to the game.

While QB, WR and OC are major questions at this point, the defense seems set save some depth at CB and help on the edge. Excited to see what 2023 brings.

You can run from it.. but there’s no escaping from it.

@OURavensFan , I feel for you, my man. I ain't gonna lie, I'm gonna have a hard time sleeping on this one.
Thanks man, I’ll be up reading this forum, RSR and Reddit until 4 am most likely. So angry, burrow is overrated the bengals are overrated I knew we could beat them but Huntley literally gave the game away. They’re not being as cocky as they want to be but they’re still thumping their chests, obviously some are worse than others. But now I have another 4th and 12 play, thought we were gonna get one back on them and Huntley went and did that shit

I'll echo the sentiment that Ludy shared-

I went into this game with no expectations. I expected a game where the defense kept it close for a bit, but then the Bengals slowly would pull ahead and the offense wouldn't be even remotely able to keep up.

When Tyler Huntley threw the interception,

Of course, being up 10-9 at halftime got me extremely invested and I was about ready to crown the game when the Ravens had the ball at the 2 and were tied 17-17.

And before I go on, I will say- Tyler Huntley played with some big balls, like the 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 deep sideline pass to Mark Andrews. I was SHOCKED to see him actually attempt to throw down field. I was even impressed with the Lamar-esque escape and first down on the poor snap from Linderbaum. I thought Huntley showed more tonight than he had any other game this season.

But, at the same time, Huntley showed exactly why he's probably not long for the NFL, even as a backup. The interception was thrown late and thrown with poor accuracy and little velocity. We can all question whether or not the QB sneak was the right play, but it was objectively NOT the right call to reach the ball over the line and hang it out there like that. You're the backup quarterback- why are you trying to be the hero? Just follow the play call and live for another down if you don't score. I don't believe in one play costing the game because a game is 60 minutes, but Huntley 100% caused a 14 point swing and it was backbreaking in the end.

And I can't knock him too too much for making the wide open throws, but a lot of his big plays were just that- wide open. However, those plays also highlighted a major weakness of Huntley- those balls fluttered and didn't lead the receivers AT ALL. Robinson is lucky Eli Apple is actually a trash can or he wouldn't have scored. And on that second to last drive, Andrews got 29 yards, but the ball was thrown short, so Andrews had little YAC opportunity. A better throw and that might have gone for seven. There was one defender and a receiver that could act as a blocker. I'm not sure Andrews is fast enough to score there, but the throw ensured he didn't.

I didn't actually have any problems with the clock management. I think, as others have said, that you try to milk the clock as much as possible and leave no time for the Bengals to take any shots. In the end, had Proche caught it, the clock management would have looked genius. What I did take issue with in that instance was the draw that led to a hold. Why on Earth are you running a draw? If the defenders are coming that hard after Huntley, throw a screen because at least they'd been working and it has a chance to to out of bounds. Just absolutely baffling.

Proche in French means close- a microcosm of the Ravens season. Still, fuck Proche. He's supposed to have these amazing hands and he dropped it with two hands on it. That is the final play of your season- lay out and sell out for that ball. Thought it was poor effort.

Overall, the silver lining is that this is Roman's last game. Inexcusable to give Dobbins zero carries in the five. Just got too cute. I'll be glad to never have to see three receivers nearly hip to hip again.

I saw a tweet from a Bengals beat writer saying that the Bengals weren't doing much celebrating. I decided to torture myself by looking at the tweets. By the looks of it, it seems that the Bengals fans were pretty humbled.
That will last about 12 hours

For what I understand his contract is up after this season and it will need to be renewed/ extended for him to return

Then what the hell, there’s your out without coming right out and saying he was fired
