The 2023 Offseason Thread

With only 5 picks in the draft - and knowing we love numbers in the draft - who is likely traded on draft night to up those numbers? Somebody(s) sure to go...

Todd Monken -

Adaptive
Likes to pass
Uses a lot of 11 personnel
Even when not 11 personnel, likes trips
Actually never uses a FB
One back offense
Calls plays to the boundary
Uses screens
Uses pick plays
Has special redzone plays
Utilizes some trick plays
Has always achieved good pass pro for his QB
so many good things that Ro never had.

I know it's far too early to be even making 53 man roster PREDICTIONS. That being said I think given the Lamar situation and the hiring of Todd Monken, 2 things seem very likely to me.

Todd runs a 1 back offense. I think the running back room could have as little as 2 RBs and at most 3. For now, I'll guess 2. I think the room will be JK as the lead back and Kenyan Drake as RB2. Monken actually runs screens and likes to get the ball to RBs in the pass game. I think this culminates in Gus and Hill being let go and Drake being retIned. Maybe a rookie is added to the room for obvious reasons.

Todd does not use a FB and has never really been a 3TE set guy. He's also super Adaptive to his guys so I think in Monken's offense Ricard becomes a TE who often lines up in the backfield (he often has TEs line up there). Where the TE room becomes Andrews, Likely, Kolar, Ricard.

I want us to come back to this all those months from now and give me the proper reaction for this post. Either I was nostradomus, or I was a fool for even writing it lolol.

Don't see any reason why we'd only go with 2 RBs. Good chance RB3 is playing plenty of ST anyways. Depth is still a thing.

Agreed which is why I said a rookie is probably thrown in there for obvious reasons. Just definitely not 4 or 5 RBs like last year and don't see Gus or Hill being brought back
