The 2023 Offseason Thread

Well I'm fine with EB, I just think that if we are finding a new OC, then why don't we risk it for Canales? he seems to have amazing potential. I would love to have him on our staff

I’ll still take EB over Canales.

I still want Brian Johnson or Monken however.

I'm absolutely fine with potential. I just don't understand why he offers more potential that EB or any of the other guys.

I'm also just not convinced the fanbase has the balls to stand behind a hire based on "potential", and be accountable for the possible disappointment that comes if that potential isn't reached.
I am ready for disappointment. It's not that I think EB is bad, but There's a real possibility that Canales has been responsible for basically the whole Seahawks offense over the past 10 years or something, and that's pretty good. I'm willing to risk it, but EB is perfectly fine too.
Yeah... Torrey Smith with worse hands.
In the small sample size I've seen on film from Bateman, he's already shown me massively higher upside than anything Jacoby put on film.
I'll admit I was first going to say Torrey when I posted that. But no insult to Bateman, Torrey is much better than him, and he was stronger was he not?

Also, I'll gladly be wrong, but I don't think there's any chance in hell the Seahawks give Geno 4/150 with over $100M gtd.

I think he'll be in the Daniel Jones/Jimmy G class. $25-30M a year, probably two years of guaranteed money. $112M in gtd money is like a 3 year commitment. Ain't no way I give that for Geno. He had a good year, not a great year.
There’s talk that Daniel Jones could get $40M+ a year which is wild to me, but QB market gonna QB market

Daniel Jones is maybe the most overrated player in the league if he gets 40m. he isn't good, never has been, never will be. He was good this season and handing off to Saquon. THat's who they need to pay 40m if they will pay anyone that. Geno deserves that $$$$ much more.

Same. I don’t trust him. That shit all Andy Reid lol
I don't think It's all Andy Reid but he definitely the mastermind behind it all. I think EB is a pretty smart coach , leader of men, and probably innovative with his ideas from a offensive standpoint. I'm just not confident in him being a full time play caller though. I hope he gets a head coaching job this year but I'm not a fan of him being the right rguy for LJ to help take him to the next level.

Damn lol , now I’m a Carr fan

I still think it’s 80/20 Lamar signs long term Vs trade, but if we do trade I want nothing to do with a bridge QB. I want a young rookie early in the first round. Even if we don’t love the crop this year or don’t get a high enough trade I’m ok with a Huntley tank year so we can get the guys early next year

problem with that idea is that the rest of the roster's almost certainly too good for a tank year to actually work

I think that's just easy to say but we all know Roman asked his receivers to run deep routes alot. That's not really what Devin Duvernay is strong at. How many routes did he run that really took advantage of what he could do in space? How often did we see him run slants and drag routes ? How often was he used on screens ? Why was he only used in the slot 20 percent of time when he was legit The Ravens best receiver after Bateman season ending injury ?

what is he strong at
he literally can only run like 2 routes - a slant and a post

Wait, but who's our #1? Bateman isn't the possession #1 we need. He's like a slightly worse Jacoby Jones. We need an Anquan Boldin, but one that's a rookie.
Ima need you to log off for the day fam

Jacoby Jones wasn't the most accomplished receiver, but he was an absolute X Factor that could bust a game wide open in the blink of an eye.

doesnt sound like we've interviewed Johnson... or at least, the more accurate way of putting it is, it hasnt been announced that we've interviewed Johnson

we've heard about 13 candidates so far afaik

Robinson
O'Shea
Canales
Angelichio
Outten
Reich
Leftwich
Bieniemy
Monken
Hall
Nussmeier
Urban
Godsey

Canales has had a 2nd interview
and we inquired about Dan Pitcher (Bengals QB coach) but they made it worth his while not to entertain an interview with a division rival

then you have no idea what you're watching...

He paired well with Torrey and Anquan. Really solid WR3
