The 2023 Offseason Thread

Sigh. I KNEW (posted about it immediately) when he said that he fucked up. I've said for a couple of years now, I don't think Eric is a good speaker to the media at all.

But here we go again just ruining our WRs desire to be here. You can't ignore that the Ozzie, EDC, Harbs, inept coordinators and then the not inept but ultra specialized GRo offense have not cultivated a good environment for the offense.

Hollywood wasn't gonna get paid and so left. Rashod now unhappy. Dez calling us out at being inept. The total misuse of JK leading him to be super unhappy. We've not had things under control on offense in a while.

And it's so annoying because the defensive side of the ball is just so good, tight knit, and free of issues

This is uncommon for us because usually our team isn't doing incompetent shit
Usually I prefer us to stay out of the news, but I support this to some extent. Hoping this will lead to some self-evaluation and some eventual change (if more is needed beyond the recent ones). Not confident that it'll happen, but at least there's an effort to make it a better situation from the players' side.

Yeah I hope this leads to changes too. Harbs tried last year to implement new training procedures and I think it def may have positively contributed! We've already moved on from GRo and Saunders. Another set of good steps! We should pay Lamar and do what we can to get the players in the offensive locker room happier and go win some games

I do find the Bam Bradley stuff the most interesting so far. Said he was doing the same exercises 5 months post-ACL reconstruction that a teammate next to him with a completely healthy knee was doing. Coming from a guy that was never able to pass a physical in the league again.

I agree, though again, this feels a little "after the fact" to me.
What other changes are there to make?

Roman is gone. Saunders is gone.

Well, that's not quite true. This is going on for a while and not much has been done to address it. They replaced turf with grass but everything else stayed the same. I'm surprised more players didn't come out earlier. Let alone offensive struggle.

Only changes that seem left are just trying to get the locker room happy again. Agree that the big actions have been taken. And hopefully lessons learned about asking the players about how things are going?

Well, to be fair, what's the point of watching Georgia tape? To show how well Monken can coach against inferior defenses who can't cover anybody to begin with?

He shoulda been watching tape from NFL teams he coordinated, and my guess is he already did that or did that a long time ago. Don't really think Monken is the kind of coach you need to do a lot of scouting on to figure out if he knows what he's doing or not.
I don't think that's the point. I've watched tape of not only Georgia, but also Cleveland and Tampa Bay and also other people breaking down film of the three. I like to see the types of plays and the routes his WRs have run, at all of the schools and teams he has coached. It has nothing to do with him coaching against inferior defenses in college.

Seems like a locker room that could use some potential veteran leadership with Campbell and Houston both questionable to return. Wouldn’t catch me complaining if we prioritized a veteran leader type in FA like we have in the past with Ben Watson and Mark Ingram
