The Good, the Bad, and The Ravens

Jake Fromm isn't draft eligible, is he?

Herbert is the one I'd be interested in most of all, but I'd also have to think about looking at Bridgewater potentially. I'm sure he's going to be looking for a situation for a one year prove it deal. Would he come cheaper than Joe's cap savings? I'm not sure. I don't know, but I do think he has franchise quarterback potential.

But if you were to release Flacco, Jimmy, and Carr, you'd be saving around $25M. Before any rollover, the Ravens have $35M in cap next year (estimated value). Let's say they roll over $5M; that puts the Ravens at $65M with those releases (although, $35M in money might be a reason the Ravens DON'T release those players; the Ravens aren't hurting for cap.) That's enough money for a new coach to go out and get his guys and start building his foundation.
Fromm is a sophomore. Besides, he sucks.

This is really disappointing. I didn’t think I was kidding myself that we had a legit chance to compete for the division get a playoff spot and get at least past the 1st round. Games in Pitt and Nashville was the team I was expecting. The team I’ve seen in Cleveland and Charlotte are not.

We have to be honest about this though. It's not just Joe who hasn't lived up to his deal. Jimmy got paid and his lack of availability has hurt that end of the deal. BW is one dimensional and while he's valuable as a run stuffer can go unnoticed and you question if he's in the game to begin with. Weddle has slowed down tremendously, and TJ has not been the player we hoped he would be. The only guy in the last 3 years who has returned his end of the baragain after a pay day is Yanda and that's really it.

I feel like Winks scheme was deciphered by Payton and Turner took advantage of it. I also noticed that Bowser got more playing time. But he didn't do much.

I don’t even really care how Flacco is playing honestly. Sometimes it’s just time to move on. He has been pretty good overall this season but an average team won’t cut it. Time to change things up.
On a team like this it's not worth having him getting paid at that high salary. I think we need a rebuild and to just move on and give him a shot at winning a title elsewhere. He could do great things in a place like Jacksonville or Denver.

I disagree with Fromm being overrated, but it's the idea that new coaches generally want "their guy." But others are right- the Ravens would find someone who wants to coach Jackson, not someone who wants "their guy."

fromm and tua are in the same class - 2020 i think is the first year either of them are eligible

I don't know how their cap situation looks but both of those teams would kill to have Joe. I personally just don't see us good enough to have Joe as our QB right now but if you're a team that's a QB away then you could strike gold with Flacco. I think they would make room to get him. Tampa Bay is another team who would go hard for him.
Jax is $13M OVER the cap with some really albatross contracts. I'm sure they can get under pretty easily, but could they afford to pay a guy like Joe? I don't think so. But Denver is sitting cozy at $29M under.

You feeling a little salty over Georgia? Come on, man- you know Georgia isn't competing with Alabama this year.

i agree with him - fromm looks ok but not great at the moment to me - ill admit my watching of him has been more anecdotal than a full-on snap-snap tape study though

I don’t know why anyone would be discussing us drafting a QB. An organization doesn’t give up ona 1st round QB in one season without even giving him a chance.

Assuming Harbaugh gets fired the 1st interview question will be “How do you envision putting Lamar in a position to succeed”. Any prospective coach will know that their job will hinge on developing Lamar, not replacing him with “their guy”

I like Fromm a lot, but I like Georgia, so maybe some bias there. But Tua, Fromm, Eason. That's gonna be a strong class.

I'm not saying you are, but Allblack is a huge Alabama fan.
At the beginning of the season I was really high on him, butI don't know how the qb situation plays out in Georgia. Fromm might be the odd man out. in the two games I saw from them Fromm was hesitant and unsure what to do. He's seems to be worried about the whole situation and it hinders him mentally.

I think his game against Florida was much more of what he is and can be. He was MUCH better on Saturday.
