I was looking up what the Falcons are giving up in rushing each week and it is pretty substantial. Eagles 113 Panthers 121 Saints 143 Bengals 99 Steelers 131 Bucs 121 Giants 61 Redskins 79 Browns 211 Cowboys 132 Saints 150 Of the two lower rushes the Redskins where behind big and Peterson only ran 9 times. The only impressive game the Falcons had stopping the rush was the Giants game where they held Barkley to 43 yards on 14 carries. The Browns Chubb ran for 176 yards on 20 carries.
Hopefully Edwards is good to go and the firm of Jackson Edwards can plow through Atlanta

I wasn’t joking about Williams. I’d actually try to convert him to OL. He wouldn’t be the first TE to convert. He’s been absolutely worthless here and always injured. Maybe he could be a backup tackle or something. He can at least block.
Waste of time if you ask me. Tried with Crockett, too - only got banged up more.

Yeah, big waste of time. For a TE, at this point in his career, to convert to the hardest position to play in football, probably never having played it, is just stupid. Rarely, if ever, would work.

I forgot about him. I don’t disagree though as it probably is a waste of time. I’m just sort of sick of Maxx wasting a roster spot honestly. I liked him as a prospect and maybe I’m just salty from him never amounting to anything more than a blocker

I don’t necessarily disagree but he’s pretty worthless outside of blocking. It’s funny too because we all thought we have it to PIT when we traded ahead of them to get him but the egg is on our face. Maxx really pissed me off if you can’t tell. You think OL is the hardest position to play? I don’t know about that now.

he's not wasting a roster spot - we basically use him as a full-back - now as hurst gets more snaps and the more we need ricard as a DL the less we'll need of maxx because of the option value those 2 give which is why we're seeing him less now but he's not wasting a roster spot anymore than Zach Sieler and Jordan Lasley are

and looking back at that draft class - almost every team has egg on their face because it was an awful draft class for most teams (the ravens just happened to have one of the worst)

Yeah, better to reclaim that roster spot with someone who has potential.

wow just made me go back to our 2015 class:

still on the roster:
Maxx
ZDS
Buck
Boyle

that's abysmal and only 1 udfa made the final 53 and was cut almost instantly i think terrance magee if i remember right...
nick easton came from that udfa class also but we traded him lol

That was pretty bad, but 2016, 17 and 18 have been pretty good

they've been awesome, especially when you add in the udfas
i would have liked a couple more overt playmakers/stars but we have got so many quality starters and role players over the last 3 rookie classes its great

We absolutely have blown several 2nd round picks and the entire 2015 class for that matter, but we have been one of the best teams in drafting mid round picks (3-5). I hope we can continue hitting on those picks, while improving our day two picks tenfold.

I think he’s a waste. We have Ricard as our FB and really? Using a 2nd round pick at FB? Seems like a complete waste to me. He really sucked as a pick. And yeah that draft was, well...

yes he was a waste of a pick but he's quite clearly worthy of one of the 53 spots on our roster now - yes if we could go back we would pick differently but he's on our team and we cant change that and he's a useful role player on this team... for that alone he's worthy of the roster spot

he's not gonna get re-signed though

we might have nailed the 3rd round 2 years in a row tbf
Tim Williams when healthy has looked like our best pass rusher this year (shame he's been injured so much)
Chris Wormley (despite my disappointment when he was picked) has become a starter in our defensive line and has done really well
Mark Andrews looks like a star in the making
Orlando Brown Jr also looks like a potentially brilliant right tackle

of those players tim williams has been the least impactful - yet he might be the most talented of all 4 - as a set of 4 3rd round picks in the last 2 years we've nailed it

the problem in talent on our team seems to come from the fact that of the day 1 and 2 picks from 2014 to 2016, only 3 have made it to this point still on the roster...

2014: both 3rd round picks were misses, our 2nd rounder was good but we traded his last year away (basically for chris wormley)
2015: our 1st and 3rd round picks were big misses, our 2nd rounder is still on the team but a miss
2016: thank god for ronnie stanley because our 2nd and 3rd round picks didnt even make it to their 3rd season and yielded us back only a 6th round pick

CJ, Ronnie, Maxx are the only players left...
that's really not great - our most recent 2 drafts have been awesome but we need to find a star somewhere high in the draft this upcoming draft i think

i have a feeling that 2018 is a precursor of what's to come - the manoeuvring around the draft was incredible and looked like we were acquiring value picks based on analytics combined with player values - that feels like an Eric DeCosta analytics influence to me - i hope we continue in that vein for 2 reasons:
  1. it gives us more players and lots of value
  2. it's just more fun to watch the draft

Agree and to your 2nd point, don’t get overly drunk in round one so you can watch the rest of the draft.

haha - i was not truly in charge of those circumstances this year - i watched the 1st round and then ended up on a boozy weekend in a different city lol

Watch maybe he’ll be a big part of this Falcons game that this thread is actually about and catch a pair of TD or Hell one TD. Probably not but one can hope right? I still don’t know how he failed so much because he looked legit but oh well. I’d cut Williams if Hill is healthy honestly but that’s just me. Doesn’t sound like he is. I’d also cut Williams to bring back Glass Dixon I mean Kenneth sorry. I like the way he runs even if he gets hurt with weird injuries.

Back on topic but is Deion Jones expected to play this game? I heard he may be back and I hope not.

Jones is practicing, but I’m not sure he is playing

May not be such a bad thing, he can't be in awesome shape.
