In 2019 Lamar lead the league in TD passes, had the highest QBR in football, and rushed for 1200 yards. The stats helped him A LOT not to mention every week having a highlight reel play. None of that is happening this year. When people look at highlights of these games they are looking at either the defense or Mitchell making plays. He doesn’t need stat padding. MVP isn’t a stat race, it’s usually the qb of the most competitive team who relies on their qb who played great to be the most to be competitive, if that makes sense.
2019 we went 14-2 and Lamar won mvp not because he had padded stats, but because he was the reason we went 14-2 with an outstanding performance.
Basically right now if I were to rank the likelihood of MVP I would probably go in order: Mahomes (the default choice), Tua (has all the stats), then Lamar (best overall team but that doesn't always mean MVP as Hurts will tell you), and then keep an eye on Burrow who has been on fire the past month and could sneak back into it the last half of the year.
