Next Up: vs Rams

Only thing that could have gone better in that bye week was for Washington to beat Miami (ha!). We’ve got to come out hot coming off of this bye. LA isn’t the worst team to have to face coming right off of it but we certainly can’t overlook them.
If Washington beat Miami, the world would have come to an end.

Need that 5th year option on a guy in case we pick right, though
a pick that late may not need the 5th year option. Of course plenty of good players will fall to 32.

I'm curious how many 5th year options have been used on the 32nd player in the draft over the last 4 to 5 years.

2021 - Joe Tryon - I doubt the Bucs will exercise his 5th year option. The deadline will be right after the draft.

2020 - CEH taken by the Chiefs in the 2020 draft and they declined the 5th year option.
2019 - N'Keal Harry - 5th year declined
2018 - Lamar Jackson - exercised (obviously)
2017 - Ryan Ramczyk - exercised
2016 - Germain Ifedi - declined

Playing with the playoff machine a bit...

5-0 guarantees us the #1 seed.

If we drop one and lose our opportunity to control our own destiny, it has to be either this week against the Rams or Christmas night against the the 49ers. We absolutely have to win against Miami, and we'd need the Chiefs to drop one but they have a cupcake schedule.

So essentially, a loss this week doesn't kill us but really puts the pressure on against some tougher opponents and takes our fate out of our own hands.
I’m not betting it but I think the Chiefs lose this week then win out.

Lawrence injury clears a better path to 13-4. If the Chiefs win 13 games this year, their schedule and injury luck would have completely bailed them out.
Need those Bills to win, the downside is if we have to play a hot Bills team in the playoffs. But you’re gonna have to play good teams eventually and that team is certainly flawed

Nope. I just assume the worst. For all we know it could just be extra rest, but would still think it's awkward a player in their 3rd year is getting days off after a bye.
Agreed that extra rest wouldn't be a thing, given that no other veteran got that. It would be either injury, illness (a real possibility) or some other form of excused absence. I've not seen anybody report on it yet.

Good point. Didn't even think about illness. Keep forgetting cold and flu cause I'm in South Florida lol.

Only way he gets rest is if they're trying to manage the foot issue, but that seems probably a bit more on the unlikely side if all of the vets are practicing through their ordeals.

Maybe he's not in practice due to personal reasons such as a family emergency or something. Maybe his flight back to Baltimore was delayed for some reason.
