2024 Baltimore Orioles

If we manage to do something special this year, one, certain, unsung hero is Albert Suarez. Amazing. If our SP's at the beginning of the season were healthy thru out, Suarez in the middle between a set up guy or two would have been remarkable. I'm still shocked at well we continue to do with all of these injuries and with them continuing to mount. Crazy.

Burnes throws another stinker, hopefully he says good bye to August’s form and finds his game.

1.5 games behind the Yankees as we have one month remaining of the regular season. Going to be a tight battle all the way through to the series against New York in mid-September. The battle for the top two seeds in the AL is going to be interesting as well, Guardians at 77 wins while the Yankees are at 79 wins and Orioles have 78 wins. Something tells me it's going to come down to the last day of the regular season before the AL seeding is sorted out.

Final Month of the season, good way to get things started. Orioles win, Yankees lose meaning the lead is only a half game. For anyone who is interested, the Orioles are doing a Football Jersey giveaway this Saturday in the spirit of football season. I wish the Orioles would consider selling some of the shirts and stuff they give away... I'd love to have a Orioles Hawaiian shirt or the Orioles football jersey this weekend.

If you go to ebay a day of so after the giveaway, you can usually find the item. Of course fans are trying to soak you. And with shirts and hats, there are often items that are replicas that are put out there after market within a few months.

This last month is going to be nip and tuck with the Skanks. I don't think they are any better than us, but they might have an easier schedule than we do - only by a little, tho. Been a minute since I looked at it. We can definitely win the division, but we need stability with the bullpen. We will win and lose from here on out based on how stout they are. Starting pitching will keep us in games and the bats have been producing pretty well, but we can't give up 4-6 runs every time we cycle thru 4 or 5 relievers in a game.

edit - - - Injuries are just killing us. Every guy who starts to contribute seems to wind up out with an injury and often the fluke kind...

While it would be great to win the division and top the skanks, according to the stats in the WC era the bye has actually been a disadvantage. Could be a statistical anomaly, but either way the bye in and of itself doesn't seem to help in the post season.

Idk, I think the central team are our Kryptonite. We're playing home run derby and not good at manufacturing runs and that's how those teams win. Our pitching gives up tons o' hits, we're shaky - yet - on def...

The Divisional Series might align us with a team that we don't match well with.

Edit - I don't really disagree with the idea, but the teams we might face early in this year's situation scares me some.

Pitching will need to improve or we’re not going anywhere in the post season.

RISP - 1-6, with bases loaded and only 1 out on two occasions. They can't score if they don't hit HR's. They must get better at working the count and manufacturing runs. BUT - that might be difficult with how the strike zone has changed in the past 1.5 months. Umpires around the league have expanded the strike zone almost uniformly by a 1-1.5 ball widths from the projected box in that time period. When you have disciplined batters and their ball - strike command suddenly is changed from 2-1 to 1-2 by a ball out of the zone that gets called strike, it puts the batter on guard when it should have been pressure on the pitcher. Happened to both teams a number of time yesterday. Still, you'd think we'd get the picture the zone has changed and start trying to get the bat on the ball on those pitches.

Gunnar saves us from being in the record books on the wrong side of a no no. Unfortunately, he gets stranded at 3rd and we lose 1 - 0.
Great game for Eflin, shame we couldn’t score.
