Coaching Carousel 2024

Since interviews can begin next week, should we expect hiring news before the Champion weekends? It seems most teams at this point know who they want and it's a matter of getting through the Rooney Rule and waiting it out for the season to be over if it's a coach on a playoff team.

The Adam Peters hire is interesting to me. I think it's a great hire by the Commanders.

The thing I'm not sure about is if the Niners win the Super Bowl (they aren't we are, but it's a hypothetical question). Would he get a SB ring?

Completely random question. And understand this is totally contrived and there's not an agenda here.

Assumptions:
We win the SB.
Lamar has a Flacco like post season.
The offense in particular is great.
John Harbaugh says I'm gonna hang it up after this SB win.
Would you consider making Monken the head coach over someone like Weaver or MM because you know you've found a guy who understands Lamar and knows how to work with Lamar to succeed at the highest level?

The thought is, this team if you replaced Lamar with Purdy would be nooooowhere near as good. So if you understand Lamar is the focal point and key to success, you do everything to ensure you keep a guy like Moken to keep things rolling?

Thats a good question and id probably go with monken. Dont wanna lose MM but i think monken could be a better hc than mm.

When I hear Monken talk he sounds like a HC to me. When I hear MM talk I hear someone who seems (unsurprisingly) considerably younger and more focused/specialized.

Like I'd describe MM as a bright, young, tactician whereas I'd describe Monken as a wise, but dynamic leader. Monken has seen a lot of football and is not a guy stuck in his ways. I feel like that's pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to running an offense. Monk wanted to do things without the wristband, Lamar tried and didn't like it. What did Monk do? Went back to what makes Lamar comfortable. Lamar has plays he wants to add? Let's throw them in. Lamar says, hey I think I can confuse a defense that's used to looking at a lefty QB by dropping lefty and flipping my hips, you got it! The guy understands personell and the moment he stopped being "cute" and overly forcing Flowers, he went from average/good to great in my books.

Belichick interviewing for a 2nd time in Atlanta today

I can't imagine how terrible it has to be to interview Belichick. Dude is so serious and boring.

Raiders officially retain Antonio Pierce and name him the Head Coach of the Raiders. The first two hires in this coaching cycle are former players who both played Linebacker.

Smart on them. Defense elevated their game under him. Just need competency on offense and they too will be competing for a playoff spot in an already crowded and intensely competitive AFC.

The one coach i know is as good as gone is MacDonald. Not sure about Weaver who I hope will take the DC job when Mac leaves.

I dont think Monken will get an offer.
