Coaching Carousel 2024

When I hear Monken talk he sounds like a HC to me. When I hear MM talk I hear someone who seems (unsurprisingly) considerably younger and more focused/specialized.

Like I'd describe MM as a bright, young, tactician whereas I'd describe Monken as a wise, but dynamic leader. Monken has seen a lot of football and is not a guy stuck in his ways. I feel like that's pretty much as good as it gets when it comes to running an offense. Monk wanted to do things without the wristband, Lamar tried and didn't like it. What did Monk do? Went back to what makes Lamar comfortable. Lamar has plays he wants to add? Let's throw them in. Lamar says, hey I think I can confuse a defense that's used to looking at a lefty QB by dropping lefty and flipping my hips, you got it! The guy understands personell and the moment he stopped being "cute" and overly forcing Flowers, he went from average/good to great in my books.
Agreed!!

Completely random question. And understand this is totally contrived and there's not an agenda here.

Assumptions:
We win the SB.
Lamar has a Flacco like post season.
The offense in particular is great.
John Harbaugh says I'm gonna hang it up after this SB win.
Would you consider making Monken the head coach over someone like Weaver or MM because you know you've found a guy who understands Lamar and knows how to work with Lamar to succeed at the highest level?

The thought is, this team if you replaced Lamar with Purdy would be nooooowhere near as good. So if you understand Lamar is the focal point and key to success, you do everything to ensure you keep a guy like Moken to keep things rolling?
First Harbaugh isn't going anywhere and second if we hire anyone at head coach it would be Macdonald

I have this sneaking suspicion that Harbs might be close. It's based totally on EDCs comments that Harbs doesn't want to be a part of a rebuild. So that does not mean by any means that this is the year, but I do think it could be close.

And that was my whole point of the question. People have sort of anointed MM but I'm not sure we'd go that route. Who know?!

and what makes you think we would need a rebuild?

I'm pretty sure EDC meant a rebuild with a new QB.

I didn't say we were. EDC said that Harbs doesn't want to be a part of one. Had we not signed Lamar we would've been in a total rebuild. And it's also very common for teams who win or get to the SB to be very near a rebuild.

I mean depends on the definition of rebuild. If you're thinking what the majority of the NFL means then I agree. But the Ravens have been kinda like the Steelers. They dont really let themselves get too low. They're only ever at worse middle of the pack and they try to climb out of that. So maybe a reset and not a rebuild. But either way it was the term EDC used.

Raiders officially retain Antonio Pierce and name him the Head Coach of the Raiders. The first two hires in this coaching cycle are former players who both played Linebacker.

Good thing cuz they should've hired their last interim HC. I'm sure Crosby gave quite the push but Pierce showed he deserved it.

Not sure of the EDC comments you reference, but as long as he has his health I would be surprised if Harbs retires within the next 10 years.
