2025 NFL Draft General Discussion

The closer we get to the draft, the more I keep falling in love with Booker and Emmanwori

I let the combine sour my thoughts on booker, not that I put that much stock into G combine numbers, but just because he’d be a legit outlier if he’s a successful first round G.

I just watched his Georgia tape again, and I’m back to being a booker fan. I forgot how good he looks on game day, to hell with the combine.

i have him as more of an early 2nd round type

he's poised, powerful and long, but the lack of lateral agility and explosion he showed at the combine, does show up on tape at times
i don't think it's the be-all-end-all for sure, but i don't think he's the slam dunk i expected he was going to be when i first watched

he's pretty plodding and maybe only suitable in a heavy gap based scheme

we want our guys to be more athletic and multiple

it's why i think donovan jackson is the better fit for us

wouldn't hate booker, in fact would be somewhat excited about it - but i don't think he's what we'd be looking for in a first round pick - think he's someone you stick at LG for 4 years and let him go get overpaid elsewhere - reminds me stylistically (and with some of his issues too) of john simpson

I mean we went with faalele as the starting RG so I’m not so certain they’re keying in on athletic and multiple, I think we just so happen to have landed linderbaum and rosengarten because they were available.

And the nfl is moving back to power a little more each year. A physically imposing OL is becoming a game changer far more than an athletic one. We’re already light in the ass at 3/5 locked in starters, not sure I’m too fond of going light in the ass at a fourth spot.

And ftr I’m not pushing for booker at 27 either, just because I think there’s gonna be way more value talent wise and positionally

i think we've very specifically targeted linderbaum and rosengarten, stanley's an incredibly versatile run blocker - this team clearly wants to be able to run power and also be a successful inside zone team

faalele won that job by default but you could see the run game was limited by his lack of versatility/mobility in space - he's held that job because he's so big and long that he's hard to get around in the passing game

not saying they wont draft a big guy but notably the big power/gap guys they've drafted have been mid-round picks at most - when we've picked OL high, they've been athletes

it's also why i think jackson will be higher than booker on our board - he can be a point of attack in a power run game but also has the mobility to work laterally and in space and still has great length

i dont think we're light at 3/5 of the OL - we just don't have a bunch of behemoths - i dont think the NFL is moving to power, i just think there's less of an emphasis on being an "inside zone team" - teams are becoming more multiple and guys like shanahan and mcvay are adding power to their arsenal (not completely moving away from zone concepts)

The top end safeties in this class are tremendous. Emmanwori, Starks, Watts and Winston. I'd be happy with any of those four alongside Hamilton.

But does he show up early and leave late?

Ben Cleveland looks good on gameday.. I’m just saying

Let’s ride!

as far as i can tell, we've only had 5 guys so far on top 30 visits
idk if they've not been publicised or if they're just not happening (would assume the former)

guys i know have visited us on top 30 visits

Anthony Belton, OL
Efton Chism, WR (small school)
Charles Grant, OT (small school)
Smael Mondon Jr LB (injury concerns)
Oluwafemi Oladejo, EDGE
Carson Schwesinger, LB
Shemar Stewart, EDGE

Pro day visits i've seen reported:
Marque Collins, CB
Caleb Etienne, OT
Tai Felton, WR
BJ Green, EDGE
Kyonte Hamilton, DT
Carter Runyon, TE
Dorian Singer, WR

i wonder if they think he can play guard...
maybe the idea would be that he rehabs from the ACL, competes for LG and is the backup LT and then eventually takes over from Ronnie

i wonder if that's why they're doing their due diligence on him - he's a high quality LT prospect who might fall because of the ACL injury - those guys don't normally make it anywhere near the bottom of the 1st round

that's my guess for the rationale, also because they just want to do checks on lots of the medical question guys

I see the vision there, I wouldn’t hate it, I totally get the rationale and frankly it’s a great plan. Gonna be hard to not overpay for a LT picking where we usually do. But man we haven’t had good luck with injuries and a first round pick on an injured player just feels like madness for us.

@Simba I know that usually we don't know a whole lot when it comes to medical and why players surprisingly drop on Draft Day. Is there anything your guy is hearing in terms of players that might fall? Where are the Ravens leaning with just a couple weeks left?

Quick.... photoshop Will Campbell with a bong and some other bad things so he drops to us lol. I'm not too keen on taking a developmental tackle that might work out for us in the future when we need to win now. We need a plug & play guy at the OL, we can find Stanley's replacement in another year or so.

I’ve got nothing for you. Away on vacation for a couple of weeks and probably won’t talk to my guy until the day before the draft, if that.
