This quote is wrong and incomplete...

No I shouldn't have to. Lincoln created it for war in 1862 to cover costs. Grant (R) got rid of it 10 yrs later. Alexander (D) recreated it in 1894. Thank you very much.

Oh btw party ideologies haven't shifted you guys still in big govt, higher taxes and racism.
Ohhhh really? Check your history...

Low income families have been negatively affected by the Democrats. I do not believe in most of the shit Republicans say or do but I can not sit here and act as if Democrats have been a voice for the lower income communities when it is that very group that has implemented polices that destroy us.

It's asinine to only have 2 parties. Especially now with everything that has gone on with "lobbyists"

Congrats again to right wing apologists for making excuses for a boneheaded administration that is banning the Center for Disease Control from using words like "science-based" and "evidence-based." Really, guys, well done.

Really? Low income families have been negatively affected by Democrats? That's a misguided conclusion at best.

It isn't the Democrats who want to defund social security, medicare, medicaid, healthcare, and public education. It isn't the Democrats who oppose affordable housing and housing discrimination. It wasn't the Democrats who wanted to repeal net neutrality and allow ISPs to form monopolies and create fast lanes for the rich to hog bandwidth. It isn't the Democrats who support the Citizens United decision that says money is speech, allowing for corporations to own politicians.

Okay. So you want a third party. What does it stand for? Where does it stand on the issues that truly differentiates it from Democrats and Republicans? Frankly, I'm not sure such an ideology exists. I'm also not sold that Americans are smart enough to pick between more than two parties. Case and point: we DO have third parties, and they routinely get less than two percent of the vote. Why? Because our third parties are only watered down or extreme versions of the main two. Because there really isn't a third way. Both parties agree on the problems. We disagree on the solutions. One side says the private sector should be allowed to solve the problems, and the other says the private sector can't even be trusted to pay its people a living wage so government should solve problems.

Seriously. Tell me the platform of your proposed third party. I've heard dozens of people tell me we need a third party, but nobody has told me what it would stand for and how it would be different from what we have.

Also most of the poorest states are deep red states: Alabama, West Virginia, Arkansas, Mississippi, etc. The bottom 11 states are all red with the exception of New Mexico.

Yep. Yep. Yep. Lets see did they factor in local and state income taxes? How bout property taxes? How bout cost of living? How bout bring home pay? How bout how many actual uberrich live in blue states which brings up the median value like Cali, NY and Md? You cant just look at gross numbers.

Check my history on what?

Yupp, and if you go local, you'll see that Maryland's blue counties are richer than Maryland's red counties by a long shot. Montgomery and Howard are the richest in the state and they're all pretty reliably liberal. Same with Baltimore County. Blue counties and states have better school systems, which lead to better local economies and higher incomes.

Also, typically "richest state" rankings are based on MEDIAN statistics, which generally accounts for outliers like the uber rich.

Crazy stuff. Sometimes I wonder where these ideas come from.

Those people all work in DC bro. Working on taxpayer dollars. Nice!!

School Systems? You talking about public only? Whats the price of fuel in Montgomery Co? Trust me its like 20 cents more than Harford co. How's Balt city doing btw? Plus how are the cities in the red areas doing? They run by Dem mayors you know and there's still a whole lot of districts run by Dems in the south and that could be a big part of the low ratings in the south. Strong possibility right? Really the Repubs only really started gaining a strong foothold in the south according to governerships in the 1990's.

Also you are agreeing with me that these ratings are based on median statistics and that really ups the rating by leaps and bounds. When you look at the uberrich you claim they vote GOP and the GOP does everything for the rich but yet they live in blue areas. Hmmmm interesting.

Yes, how are cities in red areas? How is Cumberland? How is Elkton? Elkton has a higher per capita crime rate than Baltimore. Four of the five poorest jurisdictions are red.

Do you even know what median means? Your conclusion is inconsistent with its definition.

The uber rich probably live in blue areas because they like lower crime rates, better roads, and better schools. Having lived and worked in both red and blue counties, I moved back to a blue county for those reasons.

Thanks for not answering none of my questions. Let me tell you Cecil Co is coming on strong with the building of Amazon and the going on construction of the European food warehouse. Remember Cecil co was the last "frontier" on the I 95 corrider between DC and NY and its getting richer by growth. Frederick is doing pretty good do you not think? Cumberland I agree with you it needs fixed. Now most of the poor counties are rural areas on the eastern shore where your work is in farming, fishing and touristry and not many of those people can drive to DC. Now a lot of the problems there are the hiring of illegal immigrants or ones on work visas that keep the pay down.

Frederick is doing well. It's a purple county. It has a Democratic county executive and a 50/50 council.

Cecil's doing better but will Amazon, Lidl, and Medline do all that much? Starting wages at Amazon warehouses are $12/hr. That's not enough to fix the problems they have there. But it's a start. They need to get a stronger workforce desperately.

Ooof. If you have an opportunity to listen to Trump's nominee for a federal judge position, Matthew Petersen, get questioned by the US Senate, do so.
