As a former reporter, can confirm. 90 percent of drug arrest cases I covered involved weed. The other 10 was primarily heroin or other opioids.

Which begs the question: why not legalize harmless marijuana and reallocate those resources to a drug that's actually killing people and driving crime? I know the answer. Anyone else?
Come to Colorado bruh. I have a card(chronic migraines are the worst). Score some!

And yes, I can get behind this shit. I'm not a total stoner hippie like some of my friends are, but I do partake in my having fun

To put it simply, the war on drugs the Republicans started that was later enforced by the Demorcrats (Clintons, reference 1994 Bill) put alot of people who look like me into prisons for drug possession. The amount of money we have spent into funding programs to combat drug use has had a direct effect on low income communities that are MORE likely to use drugs given the circumstances. Since the 60s, children growing up in 2 parent homes has declined.

The amount of kids growing up in a single household by a mother has nearly tripled since the 60s. Need proof? Look at the stories of most of these NFL players and where they come from....

Mandatory sentencing and has actually hurt our communities more than ANYTHING else and has been one of the contributing factors to the divide of the family, to be more specific the Black and Hispanics (this isn't a race but for some odd reason its considered as such, that is a different convo all together).

Its not only the war on drugs but also the war on poverty that caused this and both have been abstract failures!

I personally have no issue with the decriminalisation of marijuana. Other drugs on the other hand.... Rehab NEEDS to be a part of the process, and I mean actual rehab, not forced to quit cold turkey and learn no coping skills.
I don't see a lot of good in all drugs being legal. I don't have any answers beyond that though.

They should actually go further than decriminalization and legalize it. Less burden on the DEA and less arrests in general and this takes hard cash away from the cartels. Would provide jobs and tax dollars also. Even tho I don't partake myself I've seen plenty of truck drivers lose their jobs and these were guys that reported to work everyday and gave production and when fired actually caused other guys to pick up the slack which I can attest is a bitch. It just doesn't seem fair when weed stays in your system longer than more hardcore drugs like coke that I hear is outta your system in a couple of days.

From memory the percentage of drug related arrests is around 88% for weed, this is why consistently lobby against weed. They also recieve money from confiscated drug related cash and assets.

I don't doubt this a bit. But those arrests are almost as commonplace as a traffic stop. In fact,I would bet that a big chunk of them are the result of a traffic stop. Point being, weed ain't the driving force behind funding for police. lol

Not a surprise.

I have no clue who you can trust nowadays.

I guess there was a reason I didn't hear nothing about this. The fake news has now become quite commonplace.

Oh please. It's called damage control. PR 101. Either that or they reversed the policy decision, which is what good reporting should do.

Actually you would think it would help cause less mundane paperwork if it was legal.

I never claimed that it was

Exactly, a war on drugs is a war on poverty in my eyes when dudes was being charged crazy numbers for crack but cocaine was.....never mind

for once i think we agree on something lol and your reasons are exactly right - it makes very little sense not to legalize drugs unless the government's aim is to further attack the poor and minority groups

Congratulations GOP supporters for your party passing tax "reform" that explodes the deficit to give a handout to the rich. Truly the party of fiscal responsibility and support for the middle class.

"Obamacare has been repealed...I told people specifically to be quiet...I didn't want them to talk about it." - President Trump, bragging that he tried to hide an Obamacare repeal in the tax bill

so pretty sure that's illegal and trump just bragged about it...
also this idea that he didnt tell the truth to the media because they are fake news is kind of hypocritical - if they were fake news then he wouldnt have been worried about hiding it, he would only need to hide it if it was fake news
also suggests that he knows that repealing obamacare is not a popular idea and not a good one either - otherwise why would he be hiding it
also why is it in a tax bill

and most importantly of all he didnt actually repeal obamacare

so he has lied on multiple fronts in one tiny sentence and some of the stuff he just bragged about im pretty sure is straight up illegal - isnt it a violation of the byrd rule?

Not sure if it's illegal but it's fucking moronic and unethical. Premiums are about to go up, up, and up and the right will continue to blame Obama, even though it's the GOP's fault ACA never worked as intended. If the GOP does care about people, they're awfully bad at showing it.
