just like i really wanted barnett lol and hooker too - glad we didnt get hooker in hindsight with the injury troubles continuing but derek barnett going 2 spots ahead of us really killed me on draft night lol

Yeah but hooker wouldn't be in that spot to get the injury if on the ravens. If we stood on 16 I would prefer a special player. And Humph has some holes. That and there are so many cornerbacks in this draft the odds are some are going to be better than him. If Humph becomes even good in man and deep zone coverage then SS is the position he could be a very unique and very special player at. Not many 6'1 217 lb physical Strong Safety's can man up on Beckham or jones and handle the back end like a man or deep zone cornerback. Which would make him a valuable piece that allows all kinda schemes.

with that logic you could argue that hooker may well be worse than plenty of players picked after him, or myles garrett, or mitch trubisky, or literally anyone

marlon humphrey has looked brilliant at corner i dont know what your obsession with hating on him is and why it persists after all the evidence to show you otherwise

sorry this has pissed me off now but for godsakes: humphrey has given up only 13 catches for 141 yards and not a single touchdown so far, not only has he got the 3rd lowest passer rating for opposing qbs as a rookie but he has the 15th best in the entire nfl this year (that's only 1 spot behind patrick peterson btw) - he's had multiple passes defensed and has had a couple of OPIs not called on him because he's a rookie matching up against vets - literally the only thing he hasnt done yet is got a turnover - he's been perfect in coverage all year virtually including on deep balls which was my worry coming out of college - he looks so fluid now it's actually a joy to watch

Dude please don't cherry pick stats and project him to be an elite cornerback. You know full well his assignments are kept simple. He is being protected somewhat. Well really Harball is protecting himself and management by keeping his assignments simple. So that if he is only average he can avoid all the criticism. He and management have a full plate as it is!! And not gonna give him assignments where he could fail. You need to get over it and realize not every round1 pick is gonna be a stud and not everybody is gonna like the picks. If Humph is turns out a stud cornerback so be it. But You act as if you can convince everybody he will be an all pro that he will. To many fans or should I say fanatics that think every early pick is a stud. And every fan has to believe it. And even get all indignant whenever everybody is not on board. It's those fanatics that got pissed at ideas Elam wouldn't be any good. Upshaw before him. Even attempts to label upshaw a successful pick. Then Perriman then Correa. Watch the list continue to grow. If he is average the same people that get all irritated at such ideas will do it again with the next rookie class. There are some fans that aren't happy with the Humphrey pick. I liked Stanley a lot.

Some fans were bitching and saying we coulda got Buckner and this and that. But I didn't care. I liked him and I know his success doesn't hinge on every fan loving the pick. If Stanley is great I won't rub it in to those that don't like the pick. If Stanley ends up screwing up protecting Joe then fine it's cool. I like the Stanley pick anyways. When fans bitch all over twitter and YouTube about the pick it's cool. I laugh cuz ravens picked my player. If he busts so be it. I do think he played better last yr. But I think he becomes one of better tackles. I would like to see him get his size back. His probs with edge speed this year isn't his athleticism in my opinion. His punch and hands contact isn't having the same effect knocking edge speed rushers off balance like last year. But I believe Stanley will be fine and see a probowl

If @rossihunter2 is trying to convince everyone, mostly you, that Humphrey is a great pick, then you should stop trying to convince everyone that he is a bad pick. He’s not being protected by anyone. He is play8mg backup now because we don’t need to rush him. Carr is playing well in his own right. The raider game he played virtually the entire game for Jimmy.

he hasnt had simple assignments and he's been used rotationally rather than situationally which suggests he's good enough to start for us but we just happen to have 3 starting outside corners - in fact he's been so good that we are finding ways to get him, jimmy and carr all on the field on dime snaps at this point - i dont see how he's being protected - even in the limited snaps from his first game he was covering AJ Green, he's had to go 1v1 with crabtree and did pretty well too

i think there's not a single ravens fan in the world who doesnt realise that not every first rounder is a stud because we've been burned by it maybe twice since the superbowl... but that doesnt mean that every first rounder is automatically not good enough just because for some weird reason you dont want it to work out personally...

and dude, right back at you, all im doing is counteracting your weird narrative that humphrey is bad and bound to fail - im not saying he's an all pro or probowl corner at this point, but what im saying is that he's done better than most of us expected as a rookie corner and that he's been a pleasantly brilliant surprise so im defending him from your hyper criticism that isnt borne out by anything anyone else is seeing on the field

and if im honest given the trends in this thread i think the onus should be on you using your facts to prove that humphrey hasnt been playing well given that most of the boards think he's playing well, his snap counts suggest he's playing well and the coaches have said he's playing well... and i havent been cherry picking stats - you find me a stat that says he's been playing badly and then we'll discuss the relative merits of our stats but so far you've shown me nothing in terms of stats, facts, or observable evidence (or any evidence tbh)

not sure what stanley has to do with humphrey tbh - and i dont remember a single person on the old boards hollering for buckner over stanley like at all so i dont know why this is relevant at all

and was beaten for only maybe 2/3 receptions and at least one of them was a clear push off by crabtree that should have been called - to the extent that even the announcers kind of stopped when they saw it and said in that knowing way "that's just a veteran move right there"

Yeah, I went over those receptions with truth via gamepass. Easily one was opi and possibly a 2nd.

So that means he is a future all pro right. I'll talk next year when he starts and shadows Beckham or Paul Richardson for even a quarter. And for the record I'm not trying to convince anybody he is only gonna be an average QB. U dudes are trying to prop him up as a future pro bowler with his limited stats. All I said is I don't like the pick and he will get lit up if he is put on Paul Richardson!! Wait til he first real test then we can discuss it. And I already saved this thread. Like I did with all the perriman talk

i dont know what you're reading... but it's not what i wrote - at no point did i say or suggest he would be an all pro in the future - just that he is doing well and is in fact ahead of where jimmy smith was at this point in his career - none of us are propping him up we are watching what he's showing us on the field and working off that footage - there is nothing to suggest so far that he cant become one of the better corners in the league but that is by no means us saying that he will be a pro bowler or an all pro - ffs jimmy isnt even a pro bowler/all pro yet

One of the best in the league means all pro or at least pro bowl status lol. Yes I would like that. But in personally do not think he is gonna bea top 10 cornerback in the league. I do believe he could be the best strong safety in the league.

Funny, you don't talk about how his matchup with Marqise Lee went.

What did he guard him for 2 plays with help everywhere?? Harball isn't gonna put him in tough one on one consistently yet. Not with all the scrutiny over all the recent busts. And Paul Richardson is one of the hardest receivers to cover right now. I always liked Paul Richardson. I wasn't sure he would get all his explosion back after the injury. But I always said he is 100 times better than Breshad the Bust. If he isn't injured again he is gonna be there with Beckham. What anybody thinks of Humphrey isn't going to be relevant. So we will revisit this after his role expands. Not trying to prove you wrong once he is roasted. It seems like every year there is a player who eventually proves a bust. Yet same fans getting pissed and indignant whenever anybody is not on board with the narrative that the player will be great. Seems like it's the same peeps every year acting as if somebody called your wife fat and made fun of their kids cuz some people don't think the player is gonna be one of the best. Same with Harball and Ozzie. And even resort to name calling and arguing over players that ended up busts anyways. Like Rossi pissed off cuz some people don't like the potential of any player?? Seriously?? Pissed off?? Ravens and football are not that important to me to be pissed off cuz somebody doesn't like a draft pick that i like.lol

I'm just confused where Paul Richardson came in...
