Chuck Clark makes his pick rEduNdanT
Joking aside, what do you (and @29BmoreBird22 ) think of Chuck Clark? He seemed to get a lot of play time in the Dime towards the end of the year and I don't think he looked bad, but I couldn't really tell a good safety from a bad one most of the time. He may never be more than a fifth or sixth DB but I think he's going to be better than anyone thought the 7th round nobody could be.

i dunno what they'll say but for me he adds much needed speed to the defence and if he can take over effectively as a dimebacker we might have an absolute steal - as for true safety id have to defer to the judgements of others

Your assessment mirrors mine thus far. And I'm okay with this for a 7th round pick.

He definitely was one of the standout rookies and I can kinda see him taking Levine’s role in the future. Unfortunately it’s hard to see him getting much of a shot at safety in the foreseeable future with jefferson here. He and canady have far and away exceeded their expectations. Normally those guys are special teamers at best.

Although I don't have the all-22 I think Clark could very well be the future SS, starting in the 2019 season. It will be much easier to get out from under the Jefferson contract. Of course, this depends on how welll Jefferson does next season. Jefferson did much better as the season progressed when we used him closer to the line of scrimmage, of course we reverted back in the final game. smh

First-round rookie cornerback Marlon Humphrey performed quite well stepping in for Smith. Over the final four games, he allowed 12 receptions for 129 yards, per PFF. He didn’t surrender a single touchdown.

Bust.

Didnt you know Lafell destroyed him? Basically all 12 of those receptions and 129 yards were against him. Wait, even that would mean he had 3 perfect games?

Shut up. Bust.

hope springs eternal each year after your heart has been torn out missing the playoffs. hey, been there done that.

cakewalk schedule don't matter, losing the playoffs at home with everything to play for against a rival on the ropes, way back in league offense, in front of empty seats don't matter. missing the playoffs 5 of 6 years don't matter. (You'll be right back here in 2019 singing the same song and dancing the same old dance), with Stevie B. Good quoting the same old business plan things, waving his 65 year old draft picking liability like a battle flag....hey... thats what fans on hard times do. You get used to it.

Cmon. Dont let pff stats fool you into thinking that hump is an elite cb.

no idea what the hopefuls are looking at. they must be lookin through ozze's eyes. I tabbed him humpf, but mr. breakdown is about as good.

Man I’m so freaking excited to have Marlon, Jimmy, and Tavon on the field at the same time. That’s going to be freaking insane.

do you see Stanley getting toasted late?.........even if your secondary turned out good (and it won't) what are you gonna do about that tough schedule and your own offensive woes?

in all candor, don't think he has that position in him either, but keep the faith.

PLayoffs...go jags!

This has probably been mentioned before but i still find it astonishing that Marlon Humphrey allowed 0 tds this year...
and even more exciting is that once he took over the starting job he gave up 12 catches for 129 yards and 0 tds...
he had 11 pass breakups and 2 ints for the year and allowed a passer rating when targeted of 53.5 which is good for 5th best in the league (1 spot behind jimmy smith and 2 spots behind marshon lattimore)

on a wider level its a bit crazy how well the rookie corners in the nfl as a whole in general did this year - marshon lattimore should be DROY and could make a case for being the league's most valuable corner this year, tredavious white has had a great year also (i think he graded out as the 2nd best corner in football according to PFF) and then marshon who didnt allow a single td all year while being in the top 5 in opposing qb passer rating...

i know he's only a rookie but marlon really looks like a great find

Marlon is still young too and we saw how much Jimmy improved after his first couple of years in the league. If Marlon keeps improving then we could be looking at a top 3 corner in the league for a long time.
