2018 Secondary

No matter what, Ozzie and Harbs get another season, unless we completely bomb is, like six wins or less. However if we do miss the playoffs, then I can see Harb's seat getting hot next season.

Yeah I think the draft and free agency are clear indicators that were on a 2 year plan, otherwise we draft Forrest lamp almost for certain

Seriously??? Fair enough on the not assuming someones character... but really? Could have meant something positive by calling him ghetto in an entirely negative context? Like "what i meant by ghetto is that Beckham lives in really affordable housing"....

Ghetto, in and of itself, is a term that is inherently negative... thats like calling someone an A-hole and responding "hey lets wait for the facts..... couldve been a postive in there"

No. Assuming that would be entirely absurd. The entire post was negative. And not in the sense that Beckham unfortunately is living in a high crime area, in government subsidized housing, etc...

No conclusions about character were drawn from what using ghetto in that way means.... i didnt say "bc you used "ghetto" in this sense - youre a racist!" If i did you can point me to where...

But lets not pretend like he or anyone is going to use "ghetto" to describe Travis Kelce.
Much of this is immaterial to the point.

I have a pretty good idea why you might have deemed it necessary to answer a post not meant for you. But I cannot understand how it is you feel you can answer for him or pretend to know his mind.

Perhaps you are spot on....Perhaps not. He ought to be allowed to define the phrase or to not respond at all, which is of course, his prerogative.

People really on here caring that a player is " ghetto".. lmao I never hear people even use the word that often. I mean what are you really trying to say

No - its all on point.

If you have a pretty good idea of why i deemed something necessary... youve assumed something about me. Thats wrong. Honestly i dont even know what that means bc i didnt answer for sledgehammer.

My post didnt say "I know he meant this, and that means "X" about his character...."

I said, dont want to assume anything, but this seems fairly clear. And it was. Guess what? Floors still open to answer for himself. Did my post somehow take that opportunity away? No.

And the term assumption implies some level of grey, or ambiguity... where someone is injecting their own interpretations. Thats not what happened here - because the context provided the tone.

I dont get how you can say my 2nd post wasnt on topic, because your point was "hey lets not assume he meant something racially stereotypical by calling him ghetto -- he couldve meant something positive..." Which, quite frankly, is the dumbest suggestion ive ever heard. Sorry for being brash. You can dress it up in eloquent language, and hide it behind what are typically viewed as virtuous characteristics (with holding judgement, remaining objective, not assuming).... its still dumb.

I dont need to know the person. I can read and understand context.

Again, i didnt draw a line to what that says about his/her character. It could be ignorance, racism, misunderstanding, etc... a number of things.

Lets try this out -- if you think i assumed anything, then provide the gray... show me the ambiguity. What else could he have meant by "ghetto" there? What other than black and either loud/aggressive, could it have possibly been? If you can provide even 1 alternative that sounds even remotely plausible than ill apologize and relent that it was wrong to assume (even though i didnt speak on his behalf like you said, and youve continued to assume about me.... and no matter how you slice it sledge insinuated a pretty negative image onto Beckham without knowing him, the person, or giving him the chance to speak -- but you either dont recognize, or care to point that one out.... hmmm).

But im done with this. You have no point. You're just being irrationally PC for no reason.... trying to be virtuous when there's no damsel in distress.

So... uh, how about that secondary? I can't wait to see Weddle and Jefferson playing together. I also want to see how some of the young guys will do. Humphrey, Canady, maybe Price. There's a lot to look forward to.

Totally agree. It seems our secondary has went from the negative to quite the positive.

I don't view it as brash but as an apparent effort to ignore the word, "innocuous", so as to give yourself opportunity to type as many words as possible.

You pretend to know his intent. You answered a question not posed to you, effectively defining the term as you PRESUME he meant it. This is closed to debate as these are clear and self evident truism.

If you wish to know an alternate meaning to the word, I suggest one of us look it up in the dictionary and see if it is ever a term used more universally than you suggest.

I assure you that this sort of back and forth is very far from virtue as I understand it and believe the PC label might be more aptly applied to the argument you put forth(for whatever that is worth).

I mean no disrespect to you ( in fact I admire you for stepping up and stepping in when the old boards went down).

Whenever I am snide or come across as self righteous (ugh...a distinct possibility), I ask your indulgence.

I too am done.

I wonder what humprehy work ethic is? if he is a guy willing and want to be the best than im ok with that even if he is not playing up to par at first

He was known as one of the absolute best character prospects in this whole class if I'm not mistaken. And his fiery competitiveness is obvious on tape, in college he was like Steve smith playing corner, pressing guys into the bench, blasting receivers every chance he got and imposing his will, gave 110% on every play. A guy with his kind of hustle and fire, I can be certain is gonna be working hard all year long, not to mention he was a national champion track star which goes to show that he does put in the work to compete at the highest level.

Humphrey comes with some question marks, but if there's one thing I won't be concerned about with him, it's his passion, and work ethic comes naturally with that.

It certainly does seem that way. To have Humphrey waiting in the wings and if Canady can play real games like he practiced in OTAs, we have a steal.
It would feel so good to have a 6th round steal, feels like we've never had one!

Think I took Canady in Forum mock back in 2016.

like it's hard to get too optimistic about it when we havent even got to training camp and a lot of the hype has been br.com but the reports sound similar to how tavon came on in last year's training camp and we saw how well he turned out - it would be an incredible bonus if we ended up with 2 starter-level corners come from one draft in day 3 in tavon and canady - that draft so far is looking crazy good: stanley, lewis, tavon, dixon, judon and michael pierce as a udfa have all already made a big impact and we still have canady who's impressing, correa who's penciled in to start this year, kaufusi who has a chance to be impactful, moore who's the 4th receiver and has scored 2 special teams tds which only leaves willie henry as the odd one out from that whole draft class

that's actually crazy looking at it - we always hope we land a few gems in a draft class but it's almost like we hit the jackpot repeatedly at this point

5 years from now our 2016 class may be viewed as the best class of that year. So far weve only had 3 players not contribute and they are all expected to make big leaps this year
