Even if the D just moderately improves this is a SB team. If there is no improvement by the end of the season ,I don't think we can win it all.
I mean they have to improve, right? They just have to get better, Orr will get better, Dean Peas will help… right ?

And smart. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say not many RBs are recognizing that stunt in the first play, let alone making 2 blocks and still taking one of the better LBs in the league out of the play.

not only does he read the stunt, he reads instantly that linderbaum's in trouble too

and not only that, but you can see by the way lamar plays that he completely trusts Hill to make that play too

Don't recall any PI flags, got away with one here.

photos lie - watch the play in real time and you see that his arm is not restricting mclaurin at all - maybe if he'd interfered with him, mclaurin wouldnt have caught it... so also not really sure how you could say he got away with one either lol
Did he catch it? McLaurin is a dog.
He's contacting the receiver before the ball arrives, he has his arms around him. lol If he didn't catch it it's clearly PI.

It’s really not any kind of clearly. By the book, Contact is allowed, it’s impeding or restricting the receivers movement that isn’t allowed. The live play showed none of that he just had tight coverage and stuck his arm in at the catch point.

Yeah, I don't think so. You can't hit the receiver before the ball gets there, and if you're not playing the ball, and a bunch of other things if it keeps them from having the opportunity to make the catch.

"It is pass interference by either team when any act by a player more than one yard beyond the line of scrimmage significantly hinders an eligible player's opportunity to catch the ball."

Acts that are pass interference include, but are not limited to:

  1. Contact by a player who is not playing the ball that restricts the opponent’s opportunity to make the catch;
  2. Playing through the back of an opponent in an attempt to make a play on the ball;
  3. Grabbing an opponent’s arm(s) in such a manner that restricts his opportunity to catch a pass;
  4. Extending an arm across the body of an opponent, thus restricting his ability to catch a pass, and regardless of whether the player committing such act is playing the ball;
  5. Cutting off the path of an opponent by making contact with him, without playing the ball;
  6. Hooking an opponent in an attempt to get to the ball in such a manner that it causes the opponent’s body to turn prior to the ball arriving; or
  7. Initiating contact with an opponent by shoving or pushing off, thus creating separation.

Admittedly I haven't gone back and watched it, but looking at that picture he's in early and clearly not playing the ball. Not even looking for the ball. If McLaurin didn't catch it there's a good chance it's called.

“Contact by a player who is not playing the ball” hes playing the ball. Playing the catch point is playing the ball. I suggest you go watch it again because all he was doing was getting his hand in front of the ball. Didn’t wrap, push, pull, shove, fall on top of, nothing. Just dove with him in tight coverage and played to break up the catch point. Perfectly legal play.

He even said he hasn't watched it, which he could have done but instead decided spend more time to go and read the rule book. Confirmation bias.

that's why my first reply to you was that the picture doesnt actually tell the story of the play

Took 10 seconds to find the rule, maybe when I have time later I’ll look for the play. But thanks for the third person take professor. lol

So I went and watched the play and see the point you guys are making. Man whatta great throw and catch.
I will say though if Terry doesn't catch the ball I still could see them possibly calling PI as Brandon never turned his head, never looked for the ball.

If they had called it, it would’ve been a bullshit call because he didn’t impede his movement at all.

But yeah that picture is certainly misleading
