The Lamar, the Receivers, and the Pass Defence

Hmm that's understandable to believe given his age and etc. I think the coaching staff believes in Zach Orr. I think with Dean Pees in his corner he should be alright.
If you add in the loss of Weaver, Wilson and actually Orr himself as LB coach, that's a lot of new pieces and not just Zach replacing Mikey Mac.

I heard on the radio pre game that Pees is spending the bulk of his time working with the DBs, trying to fix communication issues.

Good game today, as others have mentioned Lamar continues to improve which I'm sure scares the hell out of our future opponents.
It can't be overstated how much The King has added to this offense. While it's still early, this looks like one of, if not the best FA signing in franchise history. Just his presence on the field opens up passing lanes. Can't wait to see what this offense looks like come January.

Was frustrating at times, but I thought the D did a pretty decent job against a good offense. Didn't hurt to not have to deal with Robinson.

This D feels an outside pass rusher short. I'd rather get one of those at the deadline than another WR.
Imo, we dnt need a wr at all. We have likely, andrews, bateman and flowers.. thats a great group. Kc would win another SB with this group right now lol. Is there any rushers thats even out there?

are we doing any stunts like last season? I remember us doing so maybe once like 2 games ago and got a sack but havent really noticed since then..

Add in Nelson and Kolar. This is the best set of receivers we've ever had., and it's a pretty diverse group.

I'd be more interested in a Marcus replacement, a smart Weddle type guy that could help to fix the communication issues.

I don't know if there's a direct correlation, but the OL has been a lot better with Mekari at LG instead of Vorhees (and simultaneously, Roger at RT). Still think Vorhees can be a starter level guy in time, but he wasn't off to a great start and I don't see any reason to go back to him right now as long as we stay healthy.

This defense just doesn't look similar to last years. Schematically and tendencies seem completely different.

S was an absolute strength last year. Hamilton was a menace near the line of scrimmage. Stone was rangy as fuck. Marcus Williams was not amazing but he wasn't lost like he is right now.

CB was just so different. Stephens had a near Revis like year last year. Ronald Darby was crazily solid. Pretty insane we didn't retain him at the cap number he went for. It was really Marlon due to his injuries that was the weak link.

ILB was a full on power duo. Roquan was making a case he was LB1. Queen was a sideline to sideline force. I have no memory of Roquan playing a ton of coverage snaps let alone giving up huge plays.

EDGE is similar ish. Oweh continues his flash and disappear thing. KVN started strong and tapered. Fears this may happen again. Clowney was a luxury we could not retain. He's been replaced with Yannick. This unit is close but a half step down.

DL is pretty dang similar. Madabuike ain't gonna come anywhere close to his 2023 numbers. That being said he is clearly heavily involved and was a good investment. Travis is a step better. This is probably the one unit which is equal if not a half step better.

Couple Thoughts:
1. Lamar Jackson was on the money today. It only took him 26 attempts to get to 323 yards passing completing 76.9% of his passes. He's been magnificent. He's a special player and quiet honestly, he's on pace for his best season ever. Dude just keeps getting better and honestly is proving, to me at least that he is indeed the best player in all of Football.

2. Zay Flowers is blossoming, and we may have finally found that #1 WR we've been clamoring for. I was really questioning his usage against the Bills and Cowboys, and the idea of "That's just how the game went" isn't good enough for me. This guy has all the tools to be an Elite WR. You can't leave him 1v1, he's too difficult to cover for ANY CB. His route running, release, YAC ability, separation, speed and acceleration is too much for any CB. He's going to be very important for this offense going forward.

3. FEED BATEMAN MORE! Dude is balling with the opportunities he's given and has been getting consistent separation. He's due for a massive performance.

4. It was nice to see Mark Andrews have a bounce back performance. I'm still concerned about where he is at the moment but given the Bengals game and this game, it seems that he's going to at least be a piece, unfortunately I don't think the Mark Andrews we saw from 2019-2022 is there anymore, I really hope i'm wrong there.

5. Derrick Henry has made me eat crow. I didn't think he would be a fit here when we first signed him, and after the first two games I overreacted and had concerned about his ability to play here. Boy has he proved me wrong. That was one hell of a signing by EDC and may get us to a Super Bowl.

6. The defense as not impressive today. I thought they played a pretty underwhelming game. Thank God we didn't let them get the ball back after that FG because I would've been nervous seeing the defense out there with 2 minutes left in the game. There were still miscommunication issues, big plays, poor discipline in shell coverage, and guys out of their zone. I'm not too confident in this unit, I think they're in trouble next week in Tampa.

I remember a play today right before harbaugh called TO, adarius was basically communicating to marcus on where to go.. idk if its some miscommunication going on or what but this shit need to be fixed..

The andrews from 19-22, he was basically the only pass catcher on the team that stayed healthy.. we have a lot of games now and also a crazy run game still. Its hard to feed him the ball alot like how we used to do.
