The Lamar, the Receivers, and the Pass Defence

The ugly: the negativity in the game thread

Wtf is wrong if you cannot enjoy watching this team right now? 4 straight wins, an offense shredding everyone.
And this place is full of "fire everyone". Do the ravens have to win 40-0 every week for this to be fun?

Yeah, I think some don’t understand that the other team is trying to win too. If it’s not domination, and a shutout it’s get rid of everyone from DeCosta to the water boy.

Even though secondsry ass, it dnt help that our pass rush is also ass
That's what I'm saying. Everyone wants to blame Orr but folks should really be looking towards EDC. The Oweh and Ojabo selections haven't panned out. Credit to him for finding a guy likee Mads… but this D line seems like its struggling.

Listening to national media you can tell how badly they want Washington to be legit. Huge market that's been down for years

Its really nauseating though. They wanted the Commies to win so badly they didnt even hide it during the broadcast.

Since I get to see some Commander fans in a few hours , i really glad we won because all they did was proclaim how
they were going to beat us last week.

There is truth to this. I have been one of the Orr critics but EDC should absolutely be called out on the pass rushing picks .

Roquan played a ton in coverage last year - this is just confirmation bias
Ro also looked fine in coverage yesterday
I don't doubt you. But if you're right, and I'm certain you are, there has to be a huge drop off because I can't remember tons of poor coverage snaps from him and I know this board was not complaining about that part of his game. In fact I'm not sure they complained about any part of his game. Also Ro have up 2 big plays over the middle again yeyesterday. I'm not saying he's some trash player. He's obviously great. But he's weirdly been the second culprit after Marcus Williams/Eddie Jackson.

Or maybe it's Simpson. Idk where even is he? We used to see Queen all the time. Simpson is seemingly absent

Think he was being asked to do too much. He was given a lot of field to cover
The fact that we've got Zay and Bate locked up for 3 years at least as a foundational pair at WR is awesome
Justice Hill is extended for another 2 years
We'll have to see what we do with the TEs this offseason or the next but we're going to have at least 1 of Andrews/Likely around for a while longer

but this skill position group has a nice basis in the passing game to build around for the future
Love the group we have. Would be nice to have a more physical bigger bodiy guy outside but is what it is. Wonder what happens with Henry next year. And knowing we have Mitchell coming back hopefully full strength.
Already seen a bunch of media harping on about how the commanders only lost by a TD and "passed the test" completely ignoring the fact that this was a 2 score game the whole 2nd half and the ravens were driving to end the game and use up the clock at the end and finished with the ball

they were pretty much dominated, idk that i would describe them as having been blow for blow - id say they showed some promising signs but so far this has been the quietest 300+yd Lamar performance ever if you judge the Monday morning reactions lol - apparently it was Derrick Henry all day
That game was in control even with some fluke plays.

I said regular season wouldn't mean shit to me but have to acknowledge Lamar looks the best he has. Yes he should. Doesn't mean he would. Look at Mahomes. We've had situations occur where last year you knew it the wheels would come off. That early pick would usually signal the entire offense falling apart but this group seems mentally ready this year. Of course we won't really know until January but going to enjoy this for what it is.

If the secondary can act right this can be a dominant post season run.

Derrick Henry is having greatest season for any RB in his 30s

Overreaction or reality: Reality

What Henry is doing isn't defeating "Father Time," but the Ravens running back is certainly pushing the clock back. Henry had 132 rushing yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Commanders, giving him 704 rushing yards and nine touchdowns over his first six games.

For those counting, Henry is on pace for 1,995 rushing yards this season. That would be the most rushing yards in a season for any running back 30 or over. He's also on pace for 26 rushing touchdowns, which would be the second-most rushing touchdowns for any player 30 or over (Priest Holmes had 27 in 2003).

Tiki Barber had 1,860 yards in a 16-game season and Curtis Martin had 1,697. Even with the extra game, Henry is on pace to shatter those numbers. If this pace continues, Henry will set a new standard for running backs in their 30s.

We have rookie qbs throwing for 300+ on us.. its gonna be a loooong ride

Not gonna set a new standard.. he just like ME and lebron, born with them ancient greek genes while helping that out even more by spending money on their body.. now you got a super human who can get a 6 pack in one month after doing nothing for a year

Generally speaking we should give up higher passing numbers and after thinking about it I'm confident they'll get better. People can't run on us. They got that penalty and were moved to 1st and goal. Then we shut them down 2 plays in a row I realized how discouraging it must be trying to run against our front.

oweh's been great
madubuike and travis jones have been great
KVN's been a great pick-up...

Ojabo's not been what we'd hoped

idk that this DL has been struggling at all - they've looked like one of the most dominant parts of this team at times

which 2 big plays did he give up yesterday? but Ro was phenomenal in pass defence last year... that's why he was an all-pro

simpson's been coming off the field on obvious passing downs for the defence to go into dime looks

I only remember that I commented twice about. I feel like 1 was to Ertz on the left hand side of the field near midfield but memory is hazy. I just know I wrote down Roquan 2 coverage plays.

And you're exactly right. Simpson is being taken off the field constantly. We barely did that with Queen. Are we potentially underestimating how big that loss was?

This is also a different defense. We don't know if PQ would be getting those snaps

i do still think that's what this WR group is still missing, a ball-winner on the outside - someone you can trust to win a fade or go up and high-point on a downfield shot to the boundary

dont have to be a dynamic athlete (don't even necessarily have to be a big guy either) but someone with some catch-point dominance would round out the group nicely - extra bonus if they can also line up in the slot and maybe give you some help in the running game in 11 personnel - jauan jennings x allen lazard is what im thinking

Yeah skill position group is looking really good. Justin Hill is a luxury at this point but teams are starting to account for him more in the pass game and his blocking is super underrated!
