2019 Forum Mock: Discussion Thread

I really was targeting margus hunt hardcore and would have probably bid off for him but i ended up with mo wilkerson so was fine letting that one go

one of the quietest final 5's ever maybe?

Just going to assume it's the St. Paddy's Day festivities.

Right!? I don't know if I'm happy with people or upset with them.

Henry Anderson was the big one that stood out to me. Crazy he went that cheap.
For real. I traded for him last season and attempted to trade for him the year prior. Injuries aside, there's so much to like. And he went for peanuts.

He was one I assumed would get heavier interest in the final 5, so I stayed away. Had I known, I probably would have been willing to blow the rest of my cap on him.

Same here. I was this close to cutting a player to go after him, but I thought the same thing you did. If it helps.

tbf as soon as i saw your post about bidding for the colts i was kinda ready to lose margus hunt lol - was expecting to lose him before final 5 though not at the end of it - was literally refreshing the page constantly just waiting for the bid and to see how much it was for

I'm sorry, my man. I didn't want to do it to you. The way I figured was, he bid on Hunt already, making him eligible for the home team rights in the bid off process. I thought that if I put a low bid at 6:54, I'd show the cards too soon, and the risk of being the last second entry was already mitigated, so I opted to go the way it played out.

shrewd - i mean i knew it was coming lol - as soon as i had final 5 bidding rights there was nothing i could do but wait and see how frugal you would be

I feel your pain. I've been penny pinching in these last several periods, getting bullied with no recourse lol It hurts.

being able to acquire both Corey Liuget and Haloti Ngata for 1 star each. Also looking forward to lining Mike Pennel up next to to DeForest Buchner. That should be a nice upgrade over D. J. Jones.

There's definitely quality out there for 0.5 stars, but you have to go through the ringer of being outbid on a lot of guys before you get there lol. This DL period is the first time where 2 of my original 0.5 star bids stuck. Only one I lost was Liuget and I literally only bid on him to keep that home town bid off in place in case things went awry.

I thought I may be able to get him for 4.5 stars, but wanted to make sure and I'm not going to be in the running for many big time free agents available so an extra star or so isn't going to hurt me.
I was hoping to get some more cheap depth, but I'm happy with Allen Bailey.

ive tried to be really specific with players who would fit but also happy to go after guys who i think are seemingly underpriced - wilkerson is the most ive spent on a player but i feel like ive enjoyed bargain bin shopping a lot this year and thinking about special teams too

Bargain bin shopping is the best (except for that first DB group). This was the one group where I was planning on being a major player considering I only had 1 DL on my roster prior to this, but I'm looking forward to going back to the cheap ones.

I'm with you. You can still come away with solid players. Tyeler Davison has been an unheralded run stopper. Jihad Ward has a ton of upside. The one I'm most surprised was Cordarrelle Patterson from a few periods ago, but you're absolutely right. You better have 6+ targets and be ready to lose most of them lol That Liuget move was brilliant planning. I'm surprised he went for as low as he did as well.

i had to go big (in terms of volume not in terms of individual prices) in the db free agency because i had zero depth - but i was also lucky enough to have 2 quality corners and a free safety before i even started

i definitely think i prefer having less cap space as a challenge than last year when i had the titans and could throw 20 odd stars at one player if i kinda wanted him...

That's really what I try to look for in teams. Find a strong core where I really only have to add depth. Of course, no team is perfect everywhere, so I also try to limit the positions that I really need to fix.
