This team needs a ST ace at the deadline, De Costa go get one.
I was rather unhappy about the pick because I thought he would be a bust(not that I didn't like him, just Ravens 1st round WRs) but you know you can always be proven wrong, and Cam Smith hasn't played the way I expected.Thank god he took Zay...
yeah, Smith hasn't really gotten on the field. He played in one game and had 5 snaps with 4 in coverage and those snaps were very good. Based on PFF he had an 84.5 grade in coverage. I don't have anything else to go by but PFF in this case.I was rather unhappy about the pick because I thought he would be a bust(not that I didn't like him, just Ravens 1st round WRs) but you know you can always be proven wrong, and Cam Smith hasn't played the way I expected.

yep. only had 5 snaps. I liked him coming out....think he has upside.I just looked at his stats and this is his line 1 tackle 0 of anythign else
I considered him on the level of Gonzalez and Witherspoon, but he really dropped.yep. only had 5 snaps. I liked him coming out....think he has upside.
I drafted him in the Forum Mock, but didn't consider him as good as Gonzalez and Witherspoon. Thought he was a notch down but definitely thought he was a first rounder. I couldn't understand why he was falling like a rock in the draft process. His tape seemed very good to me.I

Yes. I considered him CB3, and seeing Porter or maybe Banks wouldn't have surprised me, but Julius Brents...I drafted him in the Forum Mock, but didn't consider him as good as Gonzalez and Witherspoon. PICK UP THE PHONE COWARD
Just putting this note here to look back at when the season is over.
In the last 5 or so years, EDC has done his best to limit the weaknesses of the team. That being said every year there's been usually 2 position groups that are liabilities.
Going into 2024 those 2 groups are OL and pass rush. I've said for a few years now that those are the two units that every super bowl winning team has. So with that being said, I'm really nervous for this year.
Last year we were better in those units and we made it to the championship game and almost won it despite playing our absolutely worse ever football. This year we've made meaningful steps backwards in both units.
Not really sure how that's acceptable. Especially given how most of it was self inflicted. Moses trade was unnecessary. Zeitler was not that expensive. Keeping one would have been good for us. Also Adisa as a bit of reach pick in the mid rounds is no replacement for Clowney at all. Especially considering we knew he wasn't that healthy. KVN is another year older and was tapering at the end of last season.
We'll see, I hope our improved running game and secondary can help mask these deficiencies.
I thought I wrote my note about last year. Must've slipped my mind. 2023 was the year. RB was the only weakish position on the team. And as you could see we made it extremely far and undoubtedly should have gone farther. What were the weaknesses that he left last year? Pretty sure it was CB and EDGE and we had two of the most productive units at those positions in recent memory…
You can’t plug every hole with new players or no-risk options - you do sometimes have to trust in your coaches to develop or scheme around deficiencies or trust in players to develop or step up
OL was always gonna be a reset this year with a big overhaul and a youth movement and edge is in the exact same position as last year
I don’t think a weak safety unit is easier to take on than edge. Remember 2014?I thought I wrote my note about last year. Must've slipped my mind. 2023 was the year. RB was the only weakish position on the team. And as you could see we made it extremely far and undoubtedly should have gone farther.
And I don't disagree you can't plug every hole. But that's my whole point. I feel like teams that win the SB never have their weak units in OL and pass rush.
I don't know anything because I'm just some idiot. But that's what jumps out at me. It's easier to take on something like a TE and S set of weaker units then it is OL and EDGE.
It could totally be the case that the FO completely agrees with that you just pointed out. I am not even necessarily being critical. I'm just saying from my layman's perspective seem to often seen that those 2 groups are usually top tier in the recent superbowl winners. Even the great Mahomes couldn't overcome one of those deficiencies.I don’t think a weak safety unit is easier to take on than edge. Remember 2014?
