Season Review and Offseason Thread

This was supposed to be something of a reload year. 3/4 of the D coaching staff gone, 3/5 of the OLine flipped and over a dozen depth players that we felt on ST. The fact all of that was successfully revamped in less than a season speaks volumes about this franchise top to bottom. I know it doesn't ease the pain since the Bills and Commanders are in the chips during rebuild seasons of their own, but still, it needs to be pointed out now that we are in offseason evaluation mode. You can't take those things for granted, the Giants have spent a decade rebuilding their OLine and it still sucks donkey C.

thank you for remembering this

People forgot what the conversation was this offseason and going into the start of the season

Means their expectation for Trenton was higher and they think this guy failed to do enough?
Seems like an odd hill to die on lol (Simpson not progressing). I thought our MLB play was pretty good as the season when on. The middle wasn’t as open as much in the latter half.

I wonder if the ravens end up keeping George Warhop as their offensive line coach ? I personally think he did a good job but they could opt to go younger. I know the secondary improve later on during the season but have to wonder if they try to add a different secondary coach . Kind of don't think they would let Chris Hewitt go but they did witness Marcus Williams and Brandon Stephens take significant step back performance wise compared to how well they played in 2023. Im still dumbfounded with what happened with Marcus Williams.

Regardless of what they decide, Warhop should get a lot of credit for coming on cold off the street and working with 3 new linemen who struggled early, and turning it into a solid unit. I'd absolutely be giving him a year 2 to see what happens. I know he probably wasn't the ideal coach at the time and it was just who was available, but he did some good work on paper.

notable also that it wasnt just 2 special teamers but vets
Yep. Two guys who had hardly gotten reps in their careers were suddenly out there splitting the job. On one hand, it speaks well that those guys had "career years" for lack of a better description. On the other hand, if you can get okay play out of them but not a physical specimen like Simpson, that says a lot.

especially given the way he played in his one major opportunity in his rookie year

Dude with the weird shaped head is gone. Understandable to try to get Trenton back on track.

This being Zach's job in '22 and '23 he should have a good idea of what's needed. Guessing his level of input in the choice this go around will be higher now that he has a year under his belt as the HMFWIC.

We need playmakers on defence

Not just solid guys who can be solid

Need a game wrecker off the edge - someone who can turn this from a good defence to an opportunistic one

Good qbs don’t throw many INTs, so got to force sacks and fumbles
Hamilton is that playmaker but because of the huge safety problem we had to move him back permanently.

Kyle not playing near the line was a huge detriment to us not getting turnovers. See ya Marcus and well Eddie already has a fork in him.

I could see the ravens being interested in Jared Mayo or Mike Caldwell as their next line backer coach . I think I like Jared Mayo the most though
So with Mayo, it's unclear how many years his contract with the Patriots was, but it was 100% multiple years. So at a minimum, he's going to pull in $3.5M in 2025 to simply do nothing. I'm not saying he'll quit coaching entirely, but at least for 2025, consider that a) he made north of $42M as a player, and b) he'll get at least $3.5M from the Patriots this year. So I'm not sure inside linebacker coach is on his agenda, given that its going to be labor intensive and for a shit load less $ than what he made last year.

Yeah he did a good job and I would definitely like to see him back. Harbaugh didn't really seem to indicate that he would be back but he definitely gave him praise so maybe thats a good sign.

Hmm I didn't think of that but good point for sure. I guess it's all depends on how Jared Mayo feels or view things because he could take a break from coaching and still make his money from his previous contract with the Patriots but at the same time if he's concerned with staying relevant then he might want to get back to work asap.

This might be a stupid question, but, when do we worry about Henry’s age? Neither Hill or Keaton are #1 RBs so when exactly do we begin looking toward the future at the position?

No hurry. RBs can usually play from day 1, so no need to spend on them until you know Henry is done

I love Todd Monken. While I can't say he doesn't have his faults, the offense has been extremely dynamic with him. Very happy he is staying for at least another year. Watching receivers try to get open in Baltimore from 1996-2022 was the most difficult thing to watch, and now we have other teams complaining that receivers are getting open for Lamar.
