This is gonna get messy. No agent wanna be labeled as the first to cave and not get their player the fully guaranteed contract. Its bad for business. So now they're forced to fight this fight. Compound this with the whole NFLPA debacle... it wouldn't surprise me if the vets are telling those rookies to stand their ground and fight for the fully guaranteed contracts. Not related, but you hear Shemar Stewart come out and said that the players in the Bengals locker room is telling him to fight his contract battle against them cheap Bengal owners.



Hopefully EDC can come at him with the "We took a chance on you bro... Don't do this to us!" card.

I’m often on the side of the players getting their money, but I’m with you on this. Mike green oughta show some grace here, just get on the field and grind and make this painless, show the ravens they made the right choice, get your rookie deal mils, re-up when you’ve shown something, like all the rookies before you.

Kind of absurd they fighting this fight.

It’s a 2nd round rookie level contract. I would think it’ll be more valuable attending training camp. Get your reps in, hone your techniques, and fight for a starting spot.

Now some of these rookies gonna sit out, potentially losing a starting gig and only see limited snaps their first year.

2nd rounders got the luxury of not being stuck with the 1st round 5th year option.. so they could reup their 3rd year. These fools ain’t thinking end game.

Nfl has the worst PA and contracts. Not mad at the players especially after killing the money the players were getting initially with the new cba just to collude when they are up for their first real deal. It's a league where incompetent owners, gms and coaches keep getting reupped but a player has a bad season or injury and they lowball him.

This is why I don't fault the players for fighting for themselves. They're the money makers but often get the raw end of the financial deal, comparatively speaking of course.

Collectively, they're the money makers. Individually, they're totally replaceable in the grand scheme of things. That's top to bottom also.

These things aren't a problem until they're a problem. And they're a problem when these guys stop missing important practices and don't get the reps needed to be ready for the year.

And the stigma (which is partially true) on this team especially is that it's already hard for rookies to get significant snaps early. Especially on a team without a lot of roster holes. Now you put a non-first rounder in a spot where he may hold out well into camp or preseason for some additional guarantees, and all of the sudden you realize his path to playing time shrinks dramatically early.

And that's what should happen.

And that's the risk they're willing to take in order to get what they feel is due now. It'll work for some and they'll still play and get their long term contracts later. For others, this is all they're going to get. I think you're drastically overrating the impact of these reps on the long term from a holistic standpoint. If a guy can play, he's gonna play. If he can't... good thing he held out and got as much as he could early.
