2025 Offseason Thread

I’ll point you to tuckers missed XP against the saints to lose us the game
Yeah and that was truly an anomaly in his career. I dont have the expectation that Loop should be a HoF kicker. That's braindead. But kicking has become extremely good in the last 5 years. I dont personally believe he's gonna be playing at the level that is now somewhat standard.

And in my opinion, it's never been easier to find competent kicking. So if Loop doesn't work out, I'm not that concerned that we can't find an 80-85% guy as a street FA. There will be veterans who will cut cut after camp like always.

I personally think Ravens fans are both spoiled and partially overvaluing kickers at this point. I think back in the Flacco years, where we were kicking 35-40 FGs a year, it may have been more important. We only had 30 FG attempts last year. With this offense, I wouldn't expect that to dramatically increase. If you have even an 80% kicker in an offense that only kicks 30 FGs, you're talking 6 misses the entire season. And if most of those are from 50+, it's not that bad.

Are we really going to catastrophise based on minicamp reports? Remember when Jamar Chase was going to be terrible? I wish.

If Loop's bad, there's the other guy or someone off the street. If it gets really bad, we might even go for it more with the NFL's hardest offense to stop.
It's not worth worrying yet.

I 100% agree. Im just predicting that what you said could happen, will happen. The other guy currently competing or someone off the street will be the guy.

Those 6 misses could all be game deciding. We have a tough schedule, cant be missing important kicks..

They could be critical, or they could be meaningless. There's no way to predict.
And while 6 kicks seems like a lot, that's also at a bottom of the league % AND consider that even "elite" Justin Tucker routinely missed 3-5 kicks a year.

The distance will matter of course. Teams are generally willing to overlook misses from 50+ because the great kickers, like Tucker, miss 1 out of 3 from 50+. Even high end kickers are going to be closer to 50% from that distance.

Teams are mostly going to focus on % inside of 50 and PATs. If Tucker didn't miss three kicks inside of 50 and two PATs last year, he may still have a job. Going 6 of 11 from 50+ isn't a "we need to find somebody else" level.

You think we wouldve still kept tucker even with his on going situation? I mean they had to know that was likely the reason for his fuck ups.. i agree though, 6 for 11 from 50+ isnt bad at all

Well a) the optics of him playing this year are a disaster, and b) I don't know why people would think 2025 would be better than 2024 for him. None of his issues have gone away.

Curious to hear what the numbers are. I know they were feeling confident as of yesterday that he was signing here.

I don’t completely love the signing, BUT This secondary is next level loaded now. Assuming Malaki is nfl starting caliber by mid season, then this secondary is not only the leagues best, but the cb group is also the deepest. Jaire Alexander is cb3, and cb1 and 2 are likely to be substantially better than him, and cb4 is chidobe awuzie, that’s fkn insane. Not to mention we have Kyle HIMilton.

If this isn’t the best defense in the nfl by seasons end then something went incredibly wrong.

And there we go. Knew they weren’t the top bidder. Prospect of playing in Baltimore and with Lamar sold him.

Is this what sex feels like?

Oh fuck I just saw the number, jaire for 6m is a hell of a signing, totally love this move now.

Lamar doesn’t need a hometown discount when everyone else takes homeboy discounts to play with him

They were engaged on Jalen Ramsey the whole time but didn't want to trade a pick and give him the money he wanted. Jaire is a stark discount from what they were willing to do for Ramsey, and that still wasn't the offer Ramsey wanted.
