The Offensive Line Thread

I can't seem to upload a few on file GIF showing Hurst at LT from last year. It's unfortunate because they are doozies.
Is there anyone on this line outside of yanda that is capable of a proper drive block? Actually getting in there and getting movement?

As I said earlier, the one I feel bad for here is Yanda.

If he had retired I wouldnt have blamed him, I dont know how he can look at Skura and Hurst on either side and think this is going to go well.

If Flacco gets killed I hope Marty is thrown out of the arena like Uncle Phil throwing Jazz out of his mansion.

Hurst has the 43rd yearly average salary for a tackle which seems like a lot - but he also will likely not be playing on his contract in 2 years time which makes his yearly average much less
The Ravens are really confident in Hursts ability but you don't justify putting a player on the bench just because he's cheaper two years down the road. If that's the case you shouldn't even sign him in the first place.

C and RT are a concern but no one is going to have five studs on the OL. We have a good LT, an elite RG, and a solid LG who can all pass protect really well. Obviously I would like to do better at C and RT but all around the league there's teams that has issues with two positions on the OL. I don't think it should ruin our season especially with the blockers we have at TE.

I think there was something similar said in 2013...

This offense should still as a whole in theory be better. The receiving corps for this team is much better and at the very least we have 3 solid offensive linemen on this line. The problem lies within Skura being a potential Gino Gradkowski clone and well... We know how terrible Hurst has been at T. A league worst player. Seriously, Marty/Harbaugh's reasoning is stupid. Hurst does have more experience... of him being terrible and ruining multiple seasons of Flacco.

Stanley is very good with the potential to be great. Yanda is Yanda and should be Yanda still. Lewis looks like he's taken the next step and could be a rock solid G. So that's three good starters. The problem lies within Skura and Hurst being liabilities that we can likely neither scheme around.... When we have an option that looks really good in Brown at RT, and Lewis looking decent at C.. And knowing that Hurst is a passable G. What's frustrating is, we do have a lineup we could send out there that is a GOOD offensive line.. And we're not doing it for the dumbest possible reasons.

If they're playing Hurst cuz of his contract that's ridiculous. It was worth paying the depth since Skura,Stanlet,Lewis and Brown are all on their rookie contracts. Now if we have an injury in the middle of the game 2 positions will be changed.

You don’t believe that. Whoever they play they think it gives them the best chance to win, for whatever reason. We don’t know everything at play behind the scenes, but we do know the Ravens coaching staff knows more than any of us.

Maybe but Brown played thruout the preseason and looked good while the only time I seen Hurst was at guard. Also the right side is where you run and I damn sure haven't seen good run drive blocking by Hurst.

But we’ve seen hurst fail miserably his whole career and Browns whole career so far he has been an absolute stonewall.

Not to mention we’ve seen time and time again that we may not know more than the coaches but we DO know that our coaching staff is behind on the times and still doesn’t believe in fielding all your best players.

Who knows, maybe they believe he’s improved(he actually did improve at G last year). I think it would be prudent to wait and see how it all plays out.
Behind the times? lol IDK about that, but again we don’t know all at play and what nuance may affect any decision. I’m sure they field what they judge to be the best players, and they probably are the best available at the time regardless of what you or I think.

Maybe the line will surprise me, but right now with Skuka at Center and Hurst at Right Tackle, I am very worried.

Exactly, that and I don’t recall a C even being there at our would be 2nd pick.

james daniels was sitting there in the 2nd round (didnt make it to where our 2nd rounder would have been but that's moot given we traded up to the end of the 1st anyway)

here are some of the players who were still there between jackson and our 2nd rounder:
Will Hernandez
James Daniels
Courtland Sutton
Harold Landry
Mike Gesicki
Dante Pettis
Josh Jackson
Christian Kirk
Dallas Goedert
Anthony Miller

there's a bit of a theme there...
there were some other OL taken but no one really of note in terms of value and certainly no centers
