Ravens Ring of Honor
Okay laugh at me if you will, but I honestly like this kid so much I want to see him be Joe's back up and eventually starter for the Ravens. He's got talent and reminds me of Tony Romo - seriously.
Personality wise, you can't madden lab someone better. The explosion of the linemen shows that the players like him also (after that last td). I love it that he asked who wanted to spike the ball. He seems positive, confident, and basically what ever we have wanted Joe to be (personality wise). I understand he has played against mostly backups, but you can't deny his traits. Like someone said there is a difference between 4th quarter comebacks (I also never believed in Renner or Johnson) and what he has done. What is different is his accuracy, his poise and his decision making.Okay laugh at me if you will, but I honestly like this kid so much I want to see him be Joe's back up and eventually starter for the Ravens. So it would be really nice to have him start against the Bills? Logically it makes a whole lot of sense. The only question that lingers is the fact that he hasn't played much against the first team defense or played with his own first team offense. By starting him and giving him enough reps to prove himself will kill 2 birds with one stone. We'll know for a fact if he is a viable back up long term and also if he can take over from Joe in a pinch. I really think this kid has that "it" factor that Joe's personality doesn't showcase.Personality wise, you can't madden lab someone better. I like the optimism but he is playing against 3rd and 4th stringers who will likely not be on a team here in a few weeks.Woodrum looks like the kinda of QB that Marty likes. Compact and not super tall, accurate, quick release, decently mobile. I like how well he throws on the break and in stride with receivers. He might be better at that than Joe, lol. Woodrum looks like the prototype QB for a WCO. I agree with the Marc Bulger and Alex Smith comparisons.
I do like him, for now, as the QB of the future. Best case scenario: Give him two more years, give Joe the Favre treatment, and roll with Woodrum.
I'm looking at the traits though. Yes, he's playing against lower level competition, so that boosts his production. However, traits are more important than production in evaluating a player. Production only looks at the end result, whereas the traits show the why and how -- which are essential to scouting. Example: Correa was regarded as a somewhat talented edge rusher in college, with 12 sack and 7 sack seasons. However, when you watched the game film, many of them came on blitzes (as opposed to rushing) or on hustle plays. He got stonewalled upfront because he lacked block shedding ability.I like the optimism but he is playing against 3rd and 4th stringers who will likely not be on a team here in a few weeks.
I'm on it.Can we make "Josh Woodrum: Number 1 on the field, Number 3 on the depth chart" shirts?
Off topic note: PICKLE RIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!I really cannot wait until fans go into an uproar when Woodrum doesn't make the team. So many fans will call for the front office's head for keeping Mallett over Woodrum, and talk about how terrible they are because they won't sign Kaepernick.
Mallett was considered across the league as a great signing for us back when we signed him. If he really is looking that bad I think there would be another quarterback on the roster signed already. I am really excited to see if Lewis gets more of a shot in game 3 because I actually really like Thad Lewis. This is just a case of the Ravens offense never being consistently productive. It doesn't help when their o-line is 1 or 2 injuries away from Flacco surrendering each game. There will be rust when there is a new quarterback in there with new pieces on offense. I wouldn't be surprised if it took the first half of the season for the offense to click.

mallett doesnt just look unpoised though, he looks absolutely shook playing vs backups. i watched kyle boller play, his recent play is seriously reminiscent, i can honestly say that boller vs starting defenders looked better than what mallet is showing vs backups. he looks terrified, he looks like hes standing on hot coals the way he chops his feet, im shocked he hasnt fell multiple times. he is way the hell off the mark with basically every single throw, with time to throw and open receivers he is missing by a mile. he hangs guys out to dry in the middle and is gonna get someone seriously hurt.I think Woodrum was helped a lot more by the running game than Malett. He was put into more favorable situations and the defense had to respect the run more, letting Woodrum work with more time and space, which can explain the poise that we saw from him.
Mallet was terrible even before we signed him! Id rather go with woodrumI really cannot wait until fans go into an uproar when Woodrum doesn't make the team.
