The Random Thought Thread

I was begging for either Ridley or Hernandez on draft night - i understand the hurst pick but i was underwhelmed at the time - im happy to ride with him and see what happens but ngl im disappointed we dont have one of ridley or hernandez given the value i had of them on my board
Thinking right now about how special this lamar led Rush offense would be with will Hernandez at LG hurts

Im so tired of seeing this - first of all, we obviously didn’t need a tight end this year because Boyle still plays the majority of snaps. Besides Andrews big catches that are becoming scarce, the rookie TEs are making no more of an impact than Maxx and Boyle.

And this “we didn’t know Andrews would be sitting at 86” is bs as well. That’s completely irrelevant. There were a plethora of good TEs in this class and there was no reason to take one in the 1st round. Not to mention I didn’t think Andrews would be gone by the mid 3rd anyway. You don’t know that they didn’t think he’d be there. We could’ve easily wanted to take 2 TEs anyway.

That’s very fair given that Thomas, Akins, Herndon were all definitely going after that spot and some had Thomas ahead of Andrews projection-wise...

But don’t underestimate the impact of Andrews - he’s easily the 4th receiver in yards and is consistently getting open - he’s quite clearly made a significant impact as a rookie

Cerratto and his co host seemed absolutely convinced The Ravens will WIN the division, as if it were a foregone conclusion.

Never forget that rumors were we wanted Philip Buchanon instead of Reed. There is a lot of luck involved in the draft at times.

Ozzie in his prime would have jumped all over Derwin James.
Yup. Somewhere along the lines Ozzie just stopped making sense. He went from making slam dunk picks and just taking the best players to seemingly overthinking and overcomplicating everything

I wanna say Ozzie lost his mind starting in 09 when he took Michael oher over clay Matthews and Hakeem nicks.

Then he further spirals by taking Sergio kindle and Terrence Cody over Carlos Dunlap and golden Tate.

Don't watch college much but damn did I want us to draft Dunlap. I honestly didn't think Kindle was a back pick. I'll leave now.

I didn’t watch at all back then and watched some highlights, I knew for a fact I wanted both nicks and Tate, at the time I was excited about kindle and Cody because I knew jack shit, but I also knew that Tate was the guy I wanted and I was mad we passed twice.

09 was the first time I had ever looked into the draft at all lol

You have to play for the future and Boyle and Maxx are in their contract year. Next year Hurst and Andrews will be 1 and 2. Boyle if retained will be just a blocking TE and we will probably need a 4th. We absolutely needed a TE.

This is where I have to question how much influence does Harbaugh have in the draft room. We continually have taken these high character stories since he's fucking gotten here. Sure, CJ Mosley, Ronnie Stanley, and Humphrey are good players and have been a trend away, but still. We go from drafting bonafide studs like Ngata, who was a risky proposition, to guys with high character over everything else.

Ozzie may have final say, but Harbaugh is in the war room too and our strategy noticeably changed when we got here. Even with Alabama goggles on, I don't see any possible universe where Ozzie goes Courtney Upshaw over Alshon Jeffery. Even he would take a chance there. But "high character guy". especially since Ozzie has been successful when drafting and acquiring edge rushers. Kruger turned out good, McPhee was good. Tim Williams when healthy looks good, Judon is a starter as a fifth rounder. Obviously there's Suggs and Boulware as well. Notice how we covet these limited pass rushers because of high character, "relentless motor". Makes me wonder, because Ozzie in the past DID NOT CARE. "But Dan Cody", even the best miss.

Can't wait to get rid of Harbaugh, I really think he's messed up the team more than most realized. Ozzie has done a lot of shitty things since 2012, but Ozzie has done his job the past three seasons in acquiring talent. Has he been perfect? No, of course not, but this team is on the brink of a possible playoff birth for the third year in a row. The talent has been acquired. We could ALWAYS do better with the benefit of hindsight, this is true of every GM in the league.

I personally think Hayden is going to be fine. I would've much rather have had Hernandez but whatever. No use in bitching about it now, nothing we can do.

That was funny. You think some people hate Harbaugh on here, I am serious concerned for Tomlin’s safety. There is some rabid hatred in Pittsburgh for that man. They want to tar and feather Boswell also. I didn’t realize with all the missed field goals, he has missed 5 extra points this season.
Do you think Tomlin is as bad as their fans think he is? If they fire him would it be better or worse for them

I recall seeing somewhere the Ravens didn't really want Reed and he was the last guy on their list before moving down. Could have just been talk. I have no sources but I do recall hearing this once

Let's put it this way, I'd jump for joy if they kept him... Literally.

You have a team with a hall of fame QB, the best RB AND the best WR in football, another stud in JuJu, an elite oline, and a lot of solid defensive pieces and you're consistently playing down to your competition rather than pulling a Chiefs and getting at least one ring out of this core.

Tomlin won a SB off of Cowher's talent. He got lucky to have a lot of those defenses early in the tenure.

He's there version of Harbaugh(and I'd argue he worse) and he's probably not going to get "fired" because of the Steeler way but "asked to retire".

If hiring a strong offensive mind means keeping him away from the Steelers then you DO IT.

The thought of having an offensive guru ala McVay with that amount of talent is enough for me to literally shit my pants out of fear. Their offense is already great, we don't need another super coach making it legendary.

So the Patriots suck now? I think the Chiefs are better than the Chargers.
Mahomes is far more of a gamer and wizard than Rivers but their Rbs are far better. There defense is the matchup that messes with me. Lamar or Flacco I don't think either match well with their edge rushers, stout run stopping and good man corners

The steelers are easily the team I know second most about as that was the first team I followed as all my extended family comes from there. My cousins all claim Munchak is the next guy and going to be incredible. I just know there fans want everyone fired the second something goes wrong. JUJU is so good I hate it because we can't look forward to AB retiring now
