he's worth more than that. He's fantastic in disguising coverages and his strength at this point in his career is his high football iq. We did the right thing cutting him, but 1 to 2m is laughable.

3 pass breakups and ZERO picks .Case closed. I don't think we would have given him even 3 M
and one of the biggest reasons our defense was #1 this year. It's about more than that. Is 6m too mucy, yes it is, but his intangibles are off the charts and will help most teams.

The real problem of having CJ walk is that with Weddle gone we badly needed CJ to be the QB of the defense. The guy making adjustments pre-snap. With CJ and Weddle gone, we don't really have that guy anymore. And that will badly hurt the defense. Especially an aggressive one like ours that needs those adjustments.

I am hoping we can pick up a decent FS free agent, and maybe he can take over the duty of reading the offense and making adjustments if he is experienced. I admit it will be hard to find someone with Weddle’s experience though.

There definitely a good reason why The Ravens cut Weddle. They obviously needed to add more speed to the safety postion but I dont think Eric Weddle was as bad as you making it seem like he was. He definitely lost a step but his intelligence was impactful for The Ravens defense especially since Wink gives his defensive players freedom to adjust and change plays depending on what the opposing offense is showing on the field.
Other than probably Earl Thomas I cant think of free safety that would be able to make the calls and command the defense like Eric Weddle.

That's why im adamant about keeping CJ and have been the whole way - our defence just cant do the same things as last year if they both go no matter who we replace them with - the scheme was partially built with their input and is based around their abilities to adjust and the way they perceive their own strengths and the strengths of their teammates
the strength of our defence was partly due to wink but was also 100% down to the way wink collaborated with the senior players and other defensive coaches to create a defence that could react quickly and play to its own strengths - if both CJ and Weddle go then we lose a major component required to run the defence we did last year
that's crazy that he calls him the best... both he and willie snead were on that team lol - im not saying he's wrong just that its wild that he would say that
