I really don't understand why they don't just throw a third and a fourth (or a singular second) at Arizona for Rosen. The Cardinals are already on the hook for like $10M of the salary, so they're getting a bargain cap wise and someone who has a year of experience.

because there's clearly no plan at all for the NYG - like i dont see what it is they're doing - last year it looked like they were building for one last push having convinced themselves that Eli isnt the guy but now they know Eli isnt the guy but have decided he's a bridge starter but then they've now also started shedding talented players at the same time - there's no semblance of any real strategy or foresight here nor a willingness to see any project through

um where's the huge hole at DE?
we've got wormley basically already stuck in there as the starter (on a week to week basis he sometimes had more snaps than urban or pierce or williams etc.) and we've got a promising young draft pick at the position too in Sieler and on top of that we've got willie henry coming back off an injury - he's more of a traditional DT than DE but we dont play a huge amount of base defence so its rare that we actually have all 3 DL on the field at once on any given down anyway - i see no hole at all

and on top of that i imagine we'll draft someone because we always seem to get someone on the DL and OL every year in some round somewhere
Thats y i said as of now, ik we run a hybrid d but Wormley is the definition of mediocre and zieler hardly played.. even if we dont run a traditional d who we putting on the dline on pass rushing downs? Willie, wormley, and pierce lol

We also cant put a olb there as we dont have any as of now besides judon, timmy, bowser

Gettlemen did say he had a plan, but you're right, it's difficult to see. @ZonaRaven it's possible they didn't like Rosen. He would be a steal due to not having to pay the signing bonus and essentially having him for four more years.

The Giants did play well down the stretch last season and some of the games were without OBJ, so maybe they think they can get along without him and the picks will come in handy in building out the roster. The Browns did much better in that trade, just not sure how they didn't for the very least get Clevelands (17th) pick in the 3rd round instead of pick 95. They also should have picked up another decent pick in 2020.

dude wormley has quietly turned into one of our best DL - he's a good player and he's improved through both years he's been on the team - he's very much not mediocre
and i literally just mentioned in the previous post who plays on passing downs - the same guys who played last year but with the added bonus of having willie henry back

we've lost brent urban who was a good player but not irreplaceable and he didnt play every down anyway - so yeah on passing downs we likely play 1 or 2 of henry, wormley, pierce, maybe Sieler if he develops

either way you said there was a huge hole there and there isnt a hole at all - its a position at which we already have a replacement in place of a solid starter level - can we get better at that position? yes obviously... is it a need? no... is it a hole? no... will it be addressed? who knows...

right but OLB is a separate position - it's a big hole yes but i dont see how that impacts the idea that we have a hole at DE...
I was talking about how we could put an olb on the line on passing downs like we did with zds, which could help fill the hole at DE.. wormley, willie, and pierce is not a good pass rushing group and that as of now is probably the best we could put out there to generate pressure, zieler maybe haven’t seen enough of him... on run downs we are perfectly fine but as of now DE there is still very much a hole

i understand what you're saying but what im saying is there isnt a hole at DE - those OLBs if we get them would be used whether or not Urban was still here

last year even with Urban we sometimes had only 1 DL or even on rare occasions no DL on the field - we adapted our personnel to the situation

im not disagreeing with you that id like a replacement OLB who can rush from the nose like ZDS did and Mcphee before him but having that element isnt about replacing or filling a hole at DE because we dont have a hole there

All of this aside, where do we view our major holes that we still need to fill?

  1. WR
  2. EDGE (would have specified rusher but tbh we just need edge players in general)
  3. IOL
id like extra depth at LB and its always nice to be able to keep adding players to the DL (and OL) every year in the draft too but i wouldnt say we've got any holes anywhere else - we do need to add another qb, probably another rb to compete and whatever else but outside of those first 3 i dont see any major holes

Agree with this. I think wormley is firmly entrenched as the starter at base 5T and will be a pretty rock solid player. But I think he hits his ceiling next year

It's fucking Gettleman. No wonder why former Panthers such as SSS, Norman, and D'Angelo can't stand him. The Giants have failures in the FO and in the coaching departments. Pat Shermur???? I'm too lazy to look it up, but IIRC, didn't he have a losing record as a HC prior to the Giants?
