The Ugly, The Murphy's Law and The Ravens

we played like that all season and I was ok going for it. You have to play your game and that's what we were doing all season.
Yeah, but there was much less at stake during the season. Playoff game, especially when you have zero momentum you take the points. I think analytics have their place but other factors have to be considered in the decisions.

The Ravens beat some teams handily, but the games against the Bills and 49ers were representative regarding where we were against better teams.

Harball gambled and his gambles were tantamount to turnovers. The Ravens were never in that game. More conservative coaching calls might have brought the result down to the wire, but the Ravens certainly got outcoached.

If we build a dominant interior O line ( for fucks sake PLEASE eric) draft a guy like etienne

on a day like yesterday we take it down to the wire at least.

After last night’s debacle I don’t think anyone has to worry about Wink and Roman getting a head coaching position .

I agree, but I'm sure those were taken into account. Less than one yard to go for it, you have to trust your team and your QB. We just got beaten in the trenches.

Seems Danny/Ray Ray has been reincarnated, again. lol
THANK YOU! I knew that fool was someone from the old boards. Gave it away with “Harball”. No one should take this dude seriously.

the NFL is unforgiving. We don't have a best of series. The best team doesn't always win.

this shit happens a lot. I don't think we'd have beaten the broncos in 2012 if we were in a best of series.

Shit happens. We were the best regular season team. Only 1 team is going to be remembered for this season out of 32

Games against New England and Houston are also representative of how they played the league's better teams.

Just didn't show up last night. Actually, it was worse because they weren't just sluggish and uninspired, they actively dug themselves into holes and then just kept digging.

If only that were true. People remember the 08 Lions that went 0-16.

Everyone will continue to talk about the 07 Pats who had a great regular season record, but couldn't finish in the postseason.

The Seahwks interception, the Falcons collapse, the Bill's four Sb appearances...people do remember losing teams when their failure is historic.

This Ravens debacle is not going to be soon forgotten. Maybe if they win the Sb next year it will take the edge off, but I don't think they are just going to fade from memory, at least not for a few years.

Jaylon Fergusons rookie season wasn't great at all. He really needs to become a better athelete ( if thats realistic) in the offseason because all my fears about him have come to fruition.
I think he has a really good bullrush. He needs a set of moves but if he can bring that along with his bullrush then I think he can be a player for us. His performance against the run this year was really bad though so that's a spot he needs to improve at big time. I do agree with the fact that he needs to be a better athlete though.

Top to bottom I don’t think we could have asked for a better coaching staff this year. Together they put the team in a position to perform at an unprecedented level. My take on last night’s failure is when faced with adversity it got in the players heads and they failed to execute. Plain and simple, they choked.

I don't know how to feel about the future. I have doubts that we can replicate the success we had this year. I certainly have doubts if Ingram can replicate the production he had this year - he's 30 and seemed to wear down as the season ended. I think RB is a priority this offseason.

Hollywood is without a doubt the brightest spot on the offense besides Lamar, but we desperately need o-line help. We lacked an anchor last night. And as cliche and vapid as it may sound, the key to stopping our offense may have been found: force Lamar to run or throw to the boundary. I actually thought Lamar threw the ball well from the pocket into some tight windows. Receivers except Brown sold.

Coaching was porous. Had two-plus weeks to prepare for the game. Running with Gus 3 times and Ingram 5 times is inexcusable. Even though we were down, there's no reason to abandon the run when down one or two possessions. Lamar CANNOT throw the ball 60 times and expect to have a shot in hell to win a Ravens football game. Roman panicked and it was evident in his play calling.

Can't assign too much blame on the defense. They were put in tough positions the whole game. BWill was eating up the middle for most of the game. Ferguson must mightily improve. Tackling was a sore spot this whole year and last night accentuated it. Marlon is far from an all-pro as someone had said earlier. Edges lost contain a few times on bootlegs etc but thats a byproduct of Derrick Henry feasting. Not being able to rush with 4 men is a huge problem.

The future is bleak and bright at the same time. Idk how to feel. We are more than capable of controlling the division for some time. However, I seriously doubt we are the AFC's #1 seed next year, or even #2.

Judon had both arms wrapped around Henry two yards in the backfield on third and 1 and didn't finish. No-one touched him and he didn't get the job done. 66 yards later.

Harbaugh said the Titans beat us in the trenches. Well I'm glad he figured out why we lost because that is exactly why. Both the Interior OL and DL need to be priorities 1 & 2 in the offseason.

Valid concerns. But imho it doesn't matter if you're #1 seed or #6 seed, you gotta execute and actually show up to play.
Ed Reed said it best: you gotta get to the dance and take it from there.

Thanks to Wink and EDC getting the right pieces in season, we totally out performed our talent. We have an elite secondary, that's for sure, but our front seven needs some serious work.
