Signings, Cuts, Trades

i guess i look at the frank clark deal and wonder how they can justify trading for frank clark and paying him to only let a better home-grown player leave a year later
They got a super bowl after making that move, so I’m sure they’d be fine either way.

I think you're going to need to add like 4-5 linebackers (inside and outside) to the group just this offseason.

I think we're playing with fire if we think we're going to maintain success on defense with LJ Fort and Josh Bynes (assuming we even re-sign him) and literally no depth behind them at linebacker. Understand we play a lot more nickel and dime, but teams will just go "big" against us and have success, especially when we figure to lose Pierce also.

Strength of the defense should remain the secondary, but need to be balanced also.

Numbers are from Hensley:

Last season, Ravens ranked 14th in pass rush win rate (beating block within 2.5 seconds). Phew...Numbers show we def. need an Edge and 3T.
Ravens' PRWR leaders:
Pernell McPhee 21.7%
Matthew Judon 20.3%
Tyus Bowser 13.8%
Michael Pierce 5.9%
Chris Wormley 5.3%
Jihad Ward 4.9%
Brandon Williams 4.9%
Patrick Ricard 3.3%
Ferguson: 2.5%

I feel like "be better than Brandon Williams at pass rushing." should be the minimum for an NFL player, or rookie, or ball boy...

what do you expect in year 1 when he's thrown into the fire without any counters in his arsenal

he was a raw small school talent with big upside and pro-level strength

obviously it's not great but we saw the power in his game translate from college to the NFL this year - he needs to get better and more violent with his hands and look to disengage but he's not as bad in 2019 as that win rate would suggest

McPhee, Wolfe or another low cost signing we'll probably make.
I mean, to me, the reality is this... if you franchise Judon and keep him or pay him a long term contract, I see virtually no possible scenario where you're paying $10M/year + for another rusher in FA. Any veteran you sign will be in that $5-10M per year range, or maybe even less.

There just isn't the salary cap capital in my eyes to keep Judon AND pay up for somebody else that's even like not top market, but high market.

That pass rush help is coming from the draft in my opinion, and its coming from multiple stabs in the draft for it.

Pass rusher and WR, in my opinion, are coming from the draft. Your other needs, like inside linebacker, Oline, etc. I think have a much better shot of coming through FA.

he's right that we might re-up with mcphee no matter what happens with judon given mcphee's prospective price tag or someone of that ilk as an edge

but most of the help if we get anything significant will have to come from the draft albeit it's not a brilliant pass rushing class this year

Idk man that’s a really bad rate and I feel like you’re being an apologist right now lol

exactly..he was our 2nd highest pick after marquise.
a 2.5 win rate is absolutley abysmal.

I reckon i could have a 0.5% win rate and I'm a well past my physical prime ( almost 40)white dude.

I meant we basically have no reliable pass rusher if we don't re-sign(tag) Judon. We then would replace him with a 30+ vet because we - as you mentioned - don't have the ressources to sign better options.
However, I still think McPhee will be brought back. in my opinion this draft doesn't have enough pass rushers who could play from the get-go.

I Like you add white in there as if the bosas and watts and Kerrigan and Jared Allen and plenty others don’t exist lol

You could have 0.5% win rate only if I played OT opposite you.

We're the minority :p and besides ...it's our ''high motor''..not our quick twitch lol
Real blue collar, bring your lunch pail to work kinda guy. Nose to the grindstone. Weight room junkie. Just plays the game right. Does the little things well. First one in and last one out.

did I hit all your pros? Now for the cons...
