"You watch the film, they played their butts off. It wasn't that we didn't get 'em stopped. … We didn't disappear on third down. We didn't disappear in the running game. And it kind of offends me that that comment was made.

"What we did disappear in, was the intensity.

"When you play intense and you're really flying around 100 miles an hour, you create turnovers. We didn't create turnovers. We didn't create those kind of opportunities we created in the other two games."

As to why the Ravens would come out so flat, Pees had no answers.

"That's all of our faults, [coaches] for not getting them ready and [players] for not being ready," Pees said. "It's all of our faults. But those guys played hard. We just didn't play with that little extra level of intensity that we had in the first two games."

i.e. we can't scheme, we can't tackle, so if we don't get turnovers we suck.
He didn't say they played well...

There's only so much you can expect them to do when they spend like 75% of the time on the field.
exactly - and the defensive depth on the d line has been ravaged and yet they still managed to get the stops and turnover we needed in the 3rd quarter - but when the 4 (5 including ricard) active d lineman are playing all the snaps and are on the field that whole time and they already are backups then you're gonna struggle especially when the other team is trying to rinse the clock by running in the 4th quarter

it's more disappointing than last week because it indicates a trend rather than an anomaly
The defense wasn't atrocious. It would have been nice if the offense could keep the defense off the field, especially in the first half. We kept Brown to 34 yards on 4 catches. The run defense will be better when Brandon Williams returns.

We gave Bell close to 200 yards from scrimmage. B Will would have helped but our run D is failing on the edges - he wouldn't have been deciding factor in this game.

I see your point and I agree to an extent.

I kinda fall in the middle that I don't think our defense is quite as lethal as pre season and games one and two have lead us to believe, but I also don't think that games three and four are completely indicative of things to come either.

I would agree with this point. I believe we will be much better as the season goes on and Brandon Williams gets healthy

#Ravens have drafted defensive players with 13 of 17 Day 1 and Day 2 picks since Super Bowl XLVII. No playmakers on the offensive side
