NFL is really showing their arrogance here by going with the same schedule and allowing for no room to breathe really. Could have put in an extra bye week for flexibility but they thought they were immune. We're getting to the breaking point that we don't really have the space to move games, so I really hope this doesn't transpire into more positive tests. Sucks to lose Marlon for a game but better than the alternative.

I wouldn't call it our whole defense--more like our entire ILB corps and Judon. I mean, we made it without Judon and probably could again anyway. Judon is the least of my concerns there because that's a lot of LBs. I'm surprised more DBs aren't on there.

that’s basically the heart of our defence

And this in the same week that we just sent 2 starting OL to I/R including our star left tackle

We could probably make it through at OLB and S in the worst case scenario, but ILB and CB are just ugly. You'd have to assume the safeties would also cover at ILB for the game.

yeah i mean with how important communication is on the back end of our defence we're looking at multiple coverage busts

not only that but the inability to trust our corners means we'd have to completely change how and where and how often we bring pressure so would create pass rushing problems too

idk whether Wink is relishing this opportunity in a weird sort of way getting to be a mad scientist in the lab cooking up something on short notice or whether he's tearing his hair out

this is confusing - so marlon is talking about the proximity devices - and the memo zrebiec quotes (the long quote not the shorter quote we all saw earlier) seem to suggest that the NFL is making an assumption on the close contact tracing meaning mask-wearing had not been happening

really confusing but it sounds to me like something's got lost in translation somewhere

When I read this, there's only two possible scenarios:
1. Marlon doesn't know what he's talking about, and is trying to "save face", since he probably doesn't like being reported as the main "COVID-driver" in this case, nor does he probably like the public backlash of team exposure associated with out-of-facility or even in-facility protocol violations.
2. The NFL is making assumptions without facts.

I would bet its the former. Doesn't really see much like the NFL to throw out accusations without having the info.

I'm not sure its really arrogance. I think its more or less just the NFL putting a protocol in place that, if followed, would greatly diminish the chances of any locker room outbreaks. All of the "large" team outbreaks that have occurred so far, which is primarily just the Titans at this point, have occurred due to players/coaches not following protocol.

There's really no reason to bake in extra bye weeks if only a couple players test positive on a roster. They expanded rosters for that reason, loosened restrictions on IR and roster flexibility, etc. Basically the premise is simple... "if you follow protocol, we should never have to move any games".

Plus, they've already said that they're treating the bye week between Conference Championships and the SB has a potential 18th week, so they've effectively already baked in one additional week into the schedule.

also they already moved a Thursday night game this year - bills chiefs was moved from a Thursday to Sunday to allow them to play the titans on a Tuesday (iirc) because of the Titans outbreak

True, but that's also because they swapped a Thursday game for a Tuesday.

I was mostly pointing out they'd only move that game if the Colts/Ravens game were moved to another day.

I guess it would depend on the status of the COVID guys. We'll need to add a ton of defensive bodies to the active roster if these guys don't get cleared, so I'm not sure if this is the week that Dez would be called up.

Think it'll be at least another week or so.
