What's really clear is that, in a year with lots of uncertainty, the ravens are picking guys with athletic ability and great testing and athletic profiles

when there's less film around and less confidence in other parts of the process, i would say that through 105 picks, it's fairly clear the ravens are leaning on the analytics department a bit more than they otherwise have done in the past - probably to fill some of the gap

Agreed completely. This could be optimistic, but there's actually a legitimate chance our top 3 picks are day 1 quality starters. That would be an insane draft if so. Even if we picked no one else.

After 3 rounds this draft seems like a huge success. I'm not a big fan of Oweh in the first, but the potential is there for him to develop into a stud. I have faith in the coaching staff to help him reach his full potential. I also think Ben Cleveland is the perfect fit for our offense. “ The Mountain” well be taking dudes out left and right

Alright who’s your day 3 targets?

EDGE: Elerson Smith, Cam Sample

WR: Tylan Wallace, Amon-Ra, Seth Williams, Marlon Williams

TE: Brevin Jordan

I have no idea who’s a good RT prospect still available

Yeah I get that Sewell was the top player at OL but I never understood why the Bengals needed to pick him in round 1 when they could also snag a Tackle and OL help on Day 2. I'm not going to like it because the Bengals are filling two holes but damn man, it's like people forgot about the depth in this class. I think we can land a good OL tonight or tomorrow and be really excited about it. I'm just hoping Humphrey or Dickerson falls into the third round just like Tyler Biazdaz did last year.
I mean, its sort of reverse logic though. Like people liked the depth at WR in this class... why do you need to draft a WR in the first when they could snag one on day 2.
The key differences for me are:
1. The Bengals already had some pretty good receivers. Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins would play well on a lot of teams. Granted, two WRs isn't enough, but I'm not sure that like "#1 WR" was what was missing from this offense.
2. If you can't protect Burrow, it doesn't matter how good the WRs are. Sewell rated as one of the better LT prospects in many years. Whether he lives up to that or not is a question, but same could be said about Chase.
3. I think you'll find most of the day 2 Olineman are interior players or RT's in the NFL. I don't expect many, if any, to become franchise LTs.

well have to see whether Cleveland can win a starting spot - he’ll be competing with powers and bredeson and the other “big country” tyre Phillips for that LG role

My guess is the small school seasons being cancelled, combined with the lack of info on these guys vs power 5 colleges and the normal level of competition concerns have meant that some of these guys have slipped in ways they wouldn’t other years

the ravens have an amazing small school scouting department - I wonder if there’s some guys we might get from small schools today who can out-perform their draft slot

edc did say he thinks of day 3 as scouts day

They have a high pick invested in a quality OT already, they made a quality stopgap signing in reiff, and yeah they need more OL help, but the net gain from an elite WR is much more than you get from an elite OT, like the difference in end result between an elite OT and a very solid OT is negligible, but the difference between jamarr chase and tee Higgins could very well be massive.

Just like I said last night, I don’t see any of these guys from middle of last night and today doing anything noteworthy. These guys being drafted now flat out suck, and that’s a big difference from other draft years

i dont think we've got to the "suck" portion of the draft yet

in the last 3 or 4 it's only really started happening in the 7th round
this year i think it happens around the 5th some time - still some good prospects around in the 4th...

some OL, some DBs, a few WRs

  • DL has been wiped out apart from a couple of nose tackles and some undersized guys (probably not on the ravens board)
  • TE has been mostly wiped out - maybe 2 guys i'd draft left
  • EDGE has a few interesting guys but not many obvious early impactful players at this point - we're mostly looking at Quincy Roche and some athletically unimpressive guys at this point or raw projects
  • QB has been wiped out (not that we were interested)
WR has a few guys although we're very much in the day 3 mode of picking either 1) athletes with developmental upside, 2) unspectacular slots with some route-running chops or 3) jump-ball big-body types

There's another group of very interesting OL candidates - some who'd have a chance to impact a team early, and also some interesting developmental guys. Probably still a round before most of the OL talent gets wiped out

Lots of interesting DBs left

Some nice athletic/coverage LBs remaining

There's a few RBs too

In terms of BPA, here's who's left from the day 2 section of my board:

  • DL Daviyon Nixon (not sure why he's fallen to day 3)
  • OG Trey Smith (blood clots - might finally get drafted today, if not will be a udfa to watch)
  • OG Deonte Brown (weight issues)
  • S Ar'Darius Washington
  • S Jamar Johnson
  • RB Michael Carter (at this point i dont really care that he's a RB - no idea why he's still on the board and would eschew needs at other positions to pick him at this point)
  • WR Amon-Ra St Brown
  • DB Kary Vincent Jr
  • LB Jabril Cox
  • EDGE Quincy Roche
  • EDGE Hamilcar Rashed Jr
  • LB/S JaCoby Stevens
  • EDGE Janarius Robinson
  • WR Cornell Powell
  • CB Israel Mukuamu
  • OT Stone Forsythe
  • CB Tre Brown
  • TE Brevin Jordan
  • OT James Hudson (apparently did not show up well in interviews)
  • RB Kenneth Gainwell
  • DL Jay Tufele
  • S Joshuah Bledsoe
  • WR Austin Watkins Jr (Sammy Watkins cousin)
  • WR Cade Johnson
  • OG David Moore
  • S James Wiggins
intriguingly i've just counted them and there's 26 of them... and we pick 26th in round 4...

meaningless coincidence but interesting nonetheless

Hamilcar rashed
Brevin Jordan

Stone forsythe(big emphasis here, I’d love this guy in round 4)
James Hudson
Quincy roche

Rodarius Williams

that’s off the top, there’s a lot of good looking prospects available

stone forsythe definitely a good option - great pass protector - a lot of work to do in the running game

i honestly dont care that we already took a DB in Brandon Stephens - i'd take another one and another one if they're BPA - the DB class seems to be the strongest group left in the draft

Ar'Darius Washington
Jamar Johnson
Kary Vincent Jr
Israel Mukuamu
Tre Brown

are the cream but i think there's a ton of other guys i'd be very interested in:

At Safety:

James Wiggins
Joshuah Bledsoe
Hamsah Nasirildeen
(JaCoby Stevens - I think he's more of a LB/dime but some project as S)

At Corner:

Tay Gowan
Marco Wilson
DJ Daniel
Robert Rochell
Trill Williams

Of those safeties I’ve only watched nasirildeen and I want him so far away from Baltimore that he can’t even see an online ad for crabcakes, if we draft nasirildeen I’m throwing in the towel lol. He is POOOOOOP

but man I love the remaining corners, rodarius Williams is a name you might be interested in

yeah that's fair to not like nasirildeen - he hasnt got instincts vs the pass (especially when deep) - but he has got athleticism and range and runs the alley effectively (although not a good tackler technically) - more of a projection from me

rodarius williams i have in the next group after the group i listed:

shemar jean-charles
keith taylor jr
rodarius williams

bledsoe plays a ton of nickel and underneath zone stuff - really physical and athletic - really versatile - makes plays on the ball - sets the edge in the slot - does struggle with shiftier slot receivers at times and i dont love him when left in deeper zones - think he's at his best with shallower zone stuff and man coverage - i really like him and am surprised he didn't get drafted yesterday

wiggins is incredibly explosive and physical with great movement skills - versatile alignments - great awareness in zone - like bledsoe he's better underneath - controls leverage well - was late to react at times - might not be the best with route recognition - not a great tackler - good blitzer - some injuries in his past though
