One thing to notice is Suggs isnt playing 1000 snaps anymore, he's down to 66% of the defensive snaps last season. Williams is going to get a lot of work
and bowser, and judon, and maybe mclellan as well - im not sure if zadarius smith makes this teamOne thing to notice is Suggs isnt playing 1000 snaps anymore, he's down to 66% of the defensive snaps last season. Williams is going to get a lot of work
I wouldn't be surprised it it was down to 50% this season now that we have actually competition for this spot and a good edge rusher we want to use on the strong side (Bowser). As the season goes on, Suggs could take the role of an edge setter on running downs with Bowser as the main strong side edge rusher. One thing to notice is Suggs isnt playing 1000 snaps anymore, he's down to 66% of the defensive snaps last season. That's how I see it, I think Suggs will have a 2-down role and will be used more as an edge setter and occasional rusher (probably with Judon on the opposite side) with Bowser and Williams coming on 3rd downs.I wouldn't be surprised it it was down to 50% this season now that we have actually competition for this spot and a good edge rusher we want to use on the strong side (Bowser). i know suggs didnt get double digit sacks last year but it seems crazy to me that you would not want him in the game on money downs given how clutch he is - he still gave the best left tackles in football last year absolute fits at times - i agree his role will decrease but i think the team will shift him to a dumervil type role if they can rather than a 2 down edge setter... i think they'll keep mclellan at OLB on running downs unless judon/williams beat him out and bowser will play OLB on early downs and shift to a more traditional SAM role on passing downs (at least to start the season)That's how I see it, I think Suggs will have a 2-down role and will be used more as an edge setter and occasional rusher (probably with Judon on the opposite side) with Bowser and Williams coming on 3rd downs.
ZDS is an unknown but some part of me still believe he can be really good in an elephant role.

I'd venture to say upshaw was a way better pass rusher. He methodically worked his way into the pocket and generated a fair amount of pressure with bulrushes and inside rushes but lacked the speed to get home. ZDS ends up in another goddamn stadium on his rush snaps he's so far awayZ Smith is a non factor as a pass rusher, he had his shot last season and is about as effective a pass rusher as JJ and Upshaw. My guess is Suggs and Judon start and rotate with Bowser and Williams like linemen.

I dont think he makes the team TBH . Also, even in his first season, while i got a lot of negs for saying this on BR.com, his sacks were not the result of beating the tackles but coverage sacks where basically he needed 8 seconds..
He's a below average NFL player. I think he's expendable.
Yeah, Jacoby wasn't very good rushing the QBs, I don't think he made a single sack for his whole career.Z Smith is a non factor as a pass rusher, he had his shot last season and is about as effective a pass rusher as JJ and Upshaw. Lol, got yaJarrett Johnson
Agreed. I was not jumping on his bandwagon because I said the same thing. I liked him out of college but he didn't transition well or develop at all, year 3 really showed that.I dont think he makes the team TBH . Honestly someone has to bring up how we've never had a speed rusher like Tim, all this time we'd rather put some 4-3 end standing up (except an old Dummervil) whereas Tim is a Von/Vic type that we've never had and it gets me pumped because we very well may have latched our superstar that we've been looking for for a long time.
Im watching the OLE miss game right now and it's not even the 2nd half and humphrey is being beaten every time the long ball is thrown at him. How can a first round corner not be able to win down the field? I'm actually really shocked he had anything other than a 2nd round grade. He's going to lose quite a few games for us this year if hes targeted. If he can't dominate WR's in college how on earth is he going to deal with Julio, Aj and Antonio brown?
We drafted a SS who can pass as an average emergency corner. I tried to give this pick the benefit of the doubt but after watching all of bamas games over the past 48 hours and seeing him being beaten down the field in every game i cannot condone this pick.
Basically Humphrey has one weakness and it's one we've already corrected in the past so why panick?
It's not always correctable. it's an instinctive thing. His speed is also questionable. I watch him and then i watch Marshon Lattimore , Conley, Sidney jones and even jourdan lewis and It confuses me even more. Those guys play the ball and stick with recievers down the field.
How can anyone make a case for humphrey over those guys?
watch this game. He gives up 3 massive receptions and 2 going for touchdowns. This isn't a one off either..
right now its the fan base rookie honeymoon period, ''we love you, you're great''.
Wouldnt shock me if everyones cussing his name after every sunday by middle of the season..
